To everyone that was scammed by Swift and Map Moving Inc. should all contact the Better Business Bureau, and also post their complaints on social media. They are scammers that steal your money. What they are doing is illegal.
I originally hired a company by the name of Swift Shift Van Lines, who lied and told me they were a moving company but instead was a broker that contracted my account over to Map Moving Inc. I did not receive my things until almost a month later and the majority of my things were broken. Not to mention, that their customer service was horrible. I paid good money for my furniture and appliances and my belongings were in excellent condition but by the time it got to me, they were destroyed. By all means necessary, please avoid these two companies.
Don't trust these guys. Map Moving and Storage was contracted by Gulf Stream Van lines to move our things from St. Louis MO to Far Rockaway, New York which I didn't know about until the pickup day. I couldn't cancel too because then I would loose over $1200 initial payment. I Was lied to that it will take 5-7 days to deliver my things. With that information, I had coordinated our move so that we would be at our new resident in New York in time to receive our things. But it took 47 days from the day of pickup (May 27- July 14th) to received our things. I had an 8 month old and a two year old and all their necessary items including their crip, our mattress etc. was part of the things being moved. My husband and I called almost every day to find out where our things were. April, Rachel and Uzi kept lying to us about when our things would be loaded onto a truck and moved to New York. Our things were still in St. Louis all this time. They are heartless. We had to buy things we already own that they had kept hostage so we could at least provide food for our kids. We couldn't keep buying food outside. The mover(fortune) who pick-up my things rushed me to sign the paper work and just said sign here and here without first explaining the various value protection coverages should our things go missing or damaged. I was asked to sign waiving full coverage of the cost of my things should it be damaged or missing. I only get 60 cent per pound of the items missing or damaged. I only realized that I signed it after they had left. Knowing he kinds of things I was moving, I would never had signed had he mention the coverages and he never gave me a copy of the rights and responsibility brochure. Some of our things ended up being damage when they delivered it and we are still waiting to hear from them after filing the claim. I would say, use a local mover and do a thorough due diligence before working with any movers. Next time we move, I'm using a Uhaul. I would never use these two companies ever in a million years. God will punish them all.
MAP was contracted by Brightside Moving Group which I was completely unaware of until they arrived at my home. Pickup was scheduled for Wednesday, August 14th with Thursday, August 15th being the backup day. On August 14th, I had not heard anything so called Brightside and was told move date was the 15th now. When the gentlemen arrived, I had everything packed (exactly as instructed). MAP began inventory and requested a signature on Household Goods Descriptive Inventory, Onsite New Binding Estimate, Packing Material Charges & Order Form, General Agreement, Press Board & Particle Furniture Notice and Long-Distance Department papers (move from Nebraska to Florida). Straight out of the gate, up-charged for the 3rd time; stating I had a folding table (which I do not) bench (which I admit forgot to add), table legs (which were part of my coffee table but apparently since it was taken apart it is a separate item now and a board game (which I kept out of a box because it had a handle). I was also charged another $144 in tape as a “material”. I had meticulously packed, wrapped, shrink wrapped and taped everything but it “wasn’t enough”. I was asked for payment immediately via Zelle or cash which included the upcharges and Brightside ½ upon pickup and ½ upon delivery. Zelle was provided to Arrow Services Incorporated… yet ANOTHER hand in the cookie jar. I was then asked for first available date for delivery and August 18th was provided. **I want to note right here, Brightside said that this is a common route and 3-7 days is to be expected. The gentlemen said if I was to provide any date beyond the 18th, they would charge me more… At this point, you are stuck, packed, money out the window and paperwork signed (that you had NO TIME to read). Moving commenced and took about an hour. THE WAITING GAME… Between August 18th and September 11th, almost an entire month, I called Brightside Moving Group and MAP COUNTLESS times. I received ZERO call backs despite being promised and told it would happen. I was PROMISED 24 hours notice. I am at work and I get a call that they will be to my home in 3-4 hours on September 11th! Late by about an hour but don’t care, I just want my things. Payment is expected immediately. Again, don’t care, just want my things. Here come the boxes… the brand new, neatly packed boxes, crunched, smashed, ripped and (some) opened. The unpacking begins. The only boxes that did not have things broken were those that did not contain fragile items! I’m talking shattered plates, glasses, kitchenware, pictures, bathroom medicines exploded, spices spilling out, broken coat rack, broke oak computer desk, bent bed frame, bent entertainment stand brackets, broke computer screen, gash in speaker system, etc.; not to mention the GASHES in my walls from moving it in! Mind you, this was all PACKED and protected. It took me nearly 2 weeks to unpack as the amount of cleaning and throwing away was additional, tedious work. Oh yes and receive “bonus” of someone else’s things! So, you go back to your paperwork only to find out, on the General Agreement, they are not responsible for any damage caused from moving in and out, during the moving, damage to walls, floors, driveways, landscaping AND, the kicker, ITEMS NOT PACKED BY THE COMPANY. You are REQUIRED to have all items packed PRIOR to arrival. In summary, spent triple the amount of money, time unpacking, time waiting, time stressing, time calling, time reading then I EVER expected. It is a shameful, unregulated practice where integrity and morality are out the window. HEED THIS WARNING! AVOID MAP MOVING & STORAGE, ARROW SERVICES US INC & BRIGHTSIDE MOVING GROUP
