I must say, we hired MAP Moving and Storage before reading their reviews. I believe we were connected with them through a broker. After reading their reviews, I was having major regrets about hiring this company. However, they did not disappoint.

They were supposed to arrive to pack up our stuff on Friday or Saturday, according to the Bill of Lading. They didn't show up until Sunday morning, which is why I'm only giving them 4 stars.

When they finally arrived, Jermaine and his crew were professional and friendly. They disassembled and wrapped all of our big furniture pieces in moving blankets. The wrapped and boxed up some mirrors, too. They labeled and inventoried everything with clear descriptions. They didn't bang up the walls or damage anything. The whole process only took about 2 hours, and they didn't try to jack up the price, as some others have complained about.

As for delivery of items... they say it takes 3 to 10 days for delivery. They arrived on day 10 after I called to check up on them the day before. But they did arrive within the scheduled time, so there's that.

They expect payment up front upon arrival before they deliver, FYI. We paid cash.

Unloading went faster than loading. The delivery crew was great. They brought everything in carefully. No damaged walls or scratched floors. They had all of our items inside the house and furniture reassembled in an hour and a half. None of our furniture was damaged. The mirrors arrived in perfect condition. They were clean, professional, and friendly.

Overall, we had a good experience with MAP Moving and Storage. I'm surprised by all the negative reviews after working with them personally. Thanks

Stay far away

BUYER BEWARE!!!I initially called Brightside moving who apparently farms moves out to other subcontractors. I didn’t realize this is how it works. I was in a bind, so I didn’t have time to do research. It took a month and a half to get my stuff.
I called everyday and they had “no new updates”. They had me over a barrel because they had my stuff. When the day FINALLY came for my delivery I got a call saying they would be there at 8pm. Ok.
Then the next call was they will be there at 10pm. When I told them that wasn’t going to work. The ‘customer service’ guy told me it might be awhile before they could fit me in again?!?! Again being over a barrel We had to accept delivery at 10:45 when they finally showed up.

Potential customers beware: learn from my experience and do NOT hire MAP Moving and Storage for any of their services. I hired Swift Shift Van Lines to move my 1-bedroom apartment from Missouri to Maryland, and they sold my move to MAP without my consent. The MAP movers were purposefully 48 hours late to pick up my items so that they could charge me exorbitant fees that amounted to over 2K over the quoted price while I was traveling for work. They held my stuff for ransom while I was on a plane to California and threatened to dump it on the side of the road if I did not wire them the money within 10 minutes. When I told the agent that she was extorting me, she replied “no one is holding a gun to your head.” The customer service manager, April, is a rare combination of malicious and idiotic. No doubt she is employed at MAP because any legitimate form of employment is well beyond her capabilities. She embodies everything this company stands for: dishonestly, unprofessionalism, and laziness. MAP was over two weeks late with my stuff, leaving me no other recourse but to start school sleeping on an air mattress and eating frozen food. Most of my furniture was broken on arrival, and many of the boxes were stained with a strange liquid. If I could go back in time, I would have rented a U-haul and moved the stuff myself. Save yourself WEEKS of dealing with April and her delightful brand of “customer service” and do NOT hire this company.

BAIT AND SWITCH SCAM... DO NOT USE

Bottom line up front. No ethical shipping company would charge 300% off of their quote, charge you for items not delivered and or not try to reimburse you for 21 boxes that most likely were lost due to gross negligence or just flat out stolen.

Brightside and MAP moving company work together in a bait and switch scam. I was quoted $7575 to move my household good from Memphis to Florida. In the end I had to pay $11,346 more and they lost or possibly stole 21 boxes valued over $4000.

They generate a quote based on volume, they are the supposed experts and I would have expected an accurate quote. The week prior to the move Brightside contacted me to go over the inventory list, at this time we took out the refrigerator, and washer and added boxes because Brightsides quote fell short of the estimate by a significant amount. The estimated cost at this time jumped to $11,865. They charge by volume because they can manipulate this measurement very easily. They had 10-15% of the truck loaded with empty boxes and packing material that was not used for my move. This gets counted into your volume and when they need to make two trips this volume will add up against you. This is how they get the cost to jump up almost 300%. They also use a First available delivery date which is very misleading because this means your house hold goods will not leave their storage house till after this date. I did not receive my goods till a week later. They Require cash or money order because they know once they have cash it is near impossible to dispute any charges, even when they do not deliver 10% of your goods.
