Terrible company. I had a small one bedroom apartment move cross state. My most expensive item, my couch, was delivered with a torn-off missing foot, and a brand new huge stain on the side of the couch. Unacceptable. And I only get $60 back... Comical. Do not use this unprofessional company
Do not use MAP moving and storage. They will overcharge you after they already have your stuff, and will take forever to give it back.
First of all, I did not book MAP moving and storage directly, but rather they were contracted to serve me through Landmark moving and storage. I was doing what I thought was a simple move. Indiana to New York. 1 day drive for me, 2 days drive if the drivers follow the 350 miles/day rule. I boxed everything myself, so all they needed to do was load. Landmark did a detailed estimate, where over the phone I provided dimensions for everything, down to the inch. Their QA called, and revised the estimate slightly after I went over the same details. On the day before moving day, the driver called as promised. The next day they showed up at 5PM to load a 3 bedroom house (we were leaving the next day). After loading my stuff (with me helping after they cast doubt that they would finish that day), they gave me the Bill, which turned out to be ~$2K over Landmark’s estimate. Being in a time crunch, all I could do was pay. I told the driver I would have my new apartment on December 30th, just as I told Landmark. When he filled out the bill, I was so busy looking at the huge cost jump that I didn’t notice that he wrote a “first available date” of 15 January. When I talked to him further about delivering those three days later, he said he’d more likely make it on the 31st. Now it is 10AM January 24th, and I still don’t have my stuff. I’ve called them most business days since the 4th (first day I could get them on the phone). When I walked to them on Thursday this week, I was told “Saturday or Sunday at the latest”, and that they’d call 24 hours in advance. So now it’s Sunday, and still no call.
I am an 80% disabled vet who has been unemployed since May. My move is because I finally landed a job, but in another state. I started working on the 18th, but because I didn’t have my stuff I had to buy all new work clothes. In the meanwhile, I have been sleeping on an air mattress and sitting on the floor during the day. With injuries in my back, shoulders, neck, and knees, all of these problems are aggravated by having to live like a squatter in my own home because MAP moving and storage and Landmark Moving and Storage can’t be bothered to promptly deliver my stuff. And I still need to pay them another couple thousand dollars upon delivery.
I’m heated half of my good stuff is missing my floor lamps shoes ,hair items,2of my antique mirrors not here like I’m not happy at all right now they better find my stuff or they will here from my attorney point blank ?
I have used moving companies to move across the country several times and this was the absolute worst experience I have had. This carrier was contracted through the moving group I used and I did not hire them directly. They require a 2 day window for pick but they did not come until the day AFTER the 2nd day. They were then late for delivery and took over a month to deliver my goods after missing the week-long window they had originally told me. They were not very responsive during this window and reported their entire 'system was down.' The movers broke several items and I had to deal with another company to file a claim, which only after 60 days and my outreach twice, did they offer reimbursement of 0.60 per estimated pound so they offered me $27 for a broken coffee table, dyson vacuum cleaner, and stereo system. I won't be hiring them ever again.
