I just dropped this to a one star after reading the company's comments on other less than stellar rating. They say thank you for your business, we strive to make your experience safe, clean and secure' nothing about compensation for our time and trouble.
Go ahead and rent here but make sure you never have a problem because it looks like it won't be rectified.
BEWARE THE VIRTUAL MANAGERS they're useless for anything but renting a locker. And in my case they didn't even get that right but they charged my credit card efficiently.
Since they went to 'virtual managers' it has become very difficult to get problems resolved. You talk to a different person every time so you have to start over at the beginning. And different 'managers' give different steps to take to correct the problem. My husband I were there about an hour on 9/10 to discontinue one storage locker and rent a larger one. At the same time we wanted to change the account holder's name from his to mine. It all seemed to be going well until yesterday. I'd been spending time every day moving things from two different Midgard storage lockers into our new, larger locker. Yesterday I took a car full boxes from the farther away locker to the new one and I found out they had blocked my access code. The first person I talked to said my husband needed to be there as well since the problem was that the new lease was still in his name and it wasn't signed. So my husband arrived half an hour later and of course we had a new 'manager' who didn't see why he had to be there. You can imagine after dropping everything to come to Midgard he wasn't too pleased. That manager said that something would be emailed which had to be signed and returned. Since they had managed to change to my email address I asked if it could be sent to a previous registered email. No. Can't be done. Really sorry but no way to do that. The email went to his address. I called Midgard (don't bother) and was told that we needed to send an email requesting the change. I went back inside and spoke to a fourth person who said we'll work on it, don't call us. He: We'll let you know. But you can still use the old locker you have here. Me: no, I can't. It uses the same door code as the new locker and you've disabled that code. He: we'll let you know.
The next day I still have a car loaded with boxes. I can't go to the old off-site storage locker because I have no place to put the things I'm moving. I can't sort things in the old same building storage locker because I can't get in the door.
They don't get a 1 star rating because the facility is kept very clean and the only bugs I have seen are dead. My Midgard locker in Rosman NC is much worse. As I've been going through the things in that locker I've been dealing with bugs, mouse droppings and (so far) one dead mouse. I threw away that sweater.
On the Don't call us, we'll call you side of things, neither my husband nor I have heard anything today. I'm going near there so I'll stop to see if my door code works. I need to speak to a real manager who can get things done, but who knows how I can do that!
The check in experience was very slow … seems like some parts of their system are new and not working very well. And now we’ve just been charged another $10 fee for some unknown reason. Further research from them said it was for 24-hour access, which we explicitly stated that we didn’t need when we signed up. And now they said they can not give us a credit for their mistake.
Had a positive experience with our Midguard online customer service person. Answered our questions promptly and efficiently.
The Brevard, NC site is beautiful on the outside and well kept. Inside it's super clean and rodent and bug free. Very helpfully and friendly staff. I highly recommend Midgard Self Storage in Brevard, NC
