We have used Mink Street Storage twice. We first rented a second floor unit in 2016 and had nothing negative to say. The building was nice, clean, and secure, and it was also very conveniently located for our purposes. I cannot say the same for our more recent experience, though. We rented two units for the past year, from late fall 2019 through the end of November 2020, both on the ground floor of the A building, but at opposite ends. It became apparent several months in that one of our units had a rodent problem, despite our following their strict guidelines on what is/is not allowed (i.e. there were no food products in either of our units). We contacted their office immediately but were told that they really don’t do much in the way of pest control because they don’t want to lure pests in. We were also told that we could get traps from their office to put in our unit, but we felt that it would be worse to have a mouse/rat die in there and go unnoticed. Then, a couple of weeks ago, as we were moving our things out, we learned that our second unit, too, had had a rodent problem. Several of our antique carpets, which were wrapped tightly in plastic, had been torn open and were littered with excrement. We will have to have most of these, as well as many of our other belongings, professionally cleaned. I understand that there is only so much the facility/the office can do, and I know that their location likely is a factor here (there is certainly other wildlife around — I have seen a fox on the property). But I cannot help but feel disgusted and annoyed, and while I don’t expect I will need to use a storage facility again any time soon, I wouldn’t use Mink Street again, and I wouldn’t recommend them to others, either.
