Moving Express & Storage made my move so easy! The team was professional, careful with my belongings, and quick. Everything arrived safely, and the pricing was fair with no surprises. I highly recommend them for a stress-free moving experience!
I had a deeply disappointing experience with America First Moving, a broker company, and Moving Express & Storage, INC (245 4th Street Suite 12, Passaic, NJ 07055). On July 3rd, I agreed to a price of $1800 for moving my belongings from ZIP code 43204 to ZIP code 10018 and paid a deposit of $846.67. The pick-up was scheduled for July 5th or 6th, with the final arrangement set for midday on July 6th. After waiting six hours on the 6th, I was informed there was a problem with the truck, and the pick-up was rescheduled to the morning of July 7th.
On July 7th, the pick-up did not occur as promised. Instead, I was informed that my order would be upgraded to direct delivery at no additional charge. The driver finally arrived at midnight on July 7th and charged me an additional $1200, informing me that I would need to pay another $800 upon delivery at ZIP code 10018.
Despite multiple attempts to communicate with America First Moving, I did not receive a satisfactory response. On July 11th, when my belongings arrived at ZIP code 10018, I was required to pay an additional $780. In total, I paid $846.67 + $1200 + $780 = $2826.67, far exceeding the original agreed-upon price of $1800.
The companies provided inconsistent explanations for the additional charges. One driver claimed the extra fees were due to my belongings exceeding the contracted size specifications. In contrast, a manager stated that the extra charges were for the direct delivery service. These conflicting reasons clearly indicate a lack of internal communication and an attempt to fabricate justifications for the overcharge.
Moving Express & Storage, INC offered me $300 as compensation and requested that I sign a waiver, which I refused. I am seeking a refund for any amount exceeding the original $1800. My belongings did not exceed the size specifications, and I did not request direct delivery services. It is evident that this is a common and unethical practice between the broker and the moving company.
I hope others will take caution when considering these companies. My experience has been stressful and financially draining.
Scam. Not only were they late on their delivery, but I had two damaged items (a desk and a tv) and somebody by the name of Anthony (manager, owner?) blocked my phone number when I tried to get a response on how to get reimbursed. It is ILLEGAL for them to reimburse for damages and also ILLEGAL if they don’t have insurance. He refused to answer and then blocked me, so looks like I have to go the legal route.
Avoid this place at all cost!!!! I can’t say it enough. They picked up our belongings, charged us double what we were initially quoted, and then when delivery day arrived at our new home across the country, they tried to DELIVER THE WRONG GOODS. Are you kidding!??!
We were told 2-3 weeks for delivery and it’s been far longer.
I’m fairly certain all of our things have been stolen at this point, and I will be reporting them to the NJ police, along with getting an attorney to get our money back.
This was the worst decision we’ve ever made. Don’t make the same mistake.
To reply to the “owner”, you’ve literally left our belongings in a storage facility in Georgia with no real way of getting it to us, and no actual plan.
And actually, the contract says 30 days, says nothing about weekends or holidays.
What do you have to say about that???? Or about trying to deliver the WRONG GOODS?! How do you make that big of a mistake?
We’ve been calling and you’ve been no help. This is absolutely absurd and unacceptable.
These guys operate a move scam operation. DO NOT let them get ahold of your stuff! The scam works by them getting all of your belongings loaded up and then holding it hostage for a substantially higher price than what was quoted. It looks like they have removed negative reviews as well.
Edit: They are posting pretending like they have no idea what is going on. SCAMMERS! We had to get the NJ Attorney General involved.
