After managing long-distance from another state an elderly relative on hospice for the last week, I am leaving a review about this movers’ performance on last Saturday. Firstly, they had stated that they would be arriving late in the afternoon, so it was surprising to be informed by my aunt’s assisted living facility that they had shown up around 10 in the morning and wanted access to the room. I had received no notification of a change in time, and was not even in the area to meet them. Secondly, when they arrived back at 2PM, both of the movers reeked of alcohol and marijuana. I had asked before hiring whether they would have plastic wrap, and the movers reiterated that they would when I spoke to them prior to arrival. Not only did they not have plastic wrap, I had to demand that they provide blankets. I also had to supervise them constantly, as they would take one piece out to their truck and mysteriously be outside at the truck for several minutes. I quickly learned that I had to literally shadow them the entire time, just to keep progress forward-moving. The smell of alcohol was so strong coming from them that it was difficult to be in the same room with them. They fumbled for several long minutes, unable to loosen screws on the bed, mumbling incoherently and cursing.
We have moved things in and out of storage with other movers multiple times in the last 3 1/2 years, and moved two children from college into their first homes, and have never experienced anything like this. The $300 charge for 1 1/2 hours of this is absolutely ridiculous. David, the person through whom this move was booked with 'Moving Guys For Rent' stopped answering calls and texts to his phone on the day of the move, and left communication and representation of the company to the two movers, who were, as stated, high and drunk. David stated that they were a 'cash only' business - which probably should have ended the conversation rather than ended with my booking them; however, I was in a very difficult position with limited time in the state. To add further insult, fifteen minutes into the move, one of the inebriated movers began hinting broadly about wanting a tip.
To this day, over a week later, there has been no response from David, or from anyone with this company to my repeated contacts. After this experience, the numerous positive Google reviews of this company are totally mystifying and possibly a testimony to a person's ability to gather fake reviews.

Moving Guys For Rent made our local move a breeze. They were punctual, hardworking, and went the extra mile to help us settle into our new home. Great service and very reasonable pricing.

We had a last-minute change in plans, but Moving Guys For Rent were flexible and accommodating. Anthony and Fred handled the move efficiently, and we couldn’t be happier with their service
