I wish that I had read the reviews before bringing in this company to fix my couch.
The booking process was seamless and they came within the next day or two. I cannot say enough nice things about their team who was on-site. They were friendly, professional, helpful, and efficient.
However, I can't help leaving this experience feeling completely cheated. When I reached out, I was quoted somewhere between $450 - $750, being told that is the common range for couch repairs. I thought to myself (knowing the issue) that it would 100% fall on the lower side of that scale.
When the team arrived on-site, they did an assessment and told me that it could be fixed. They spoke with their boss to get a quote and I was told it would be $750. I was immediately sweating over the price tag but knew that I couldn't not have a useable couch. I wish I had just thanked them and looked into other options.
I wasn't given insight into what actually had to go into the repair so I didn't know upfront what that price tag was comprised of but after watching what was done, I can say quite confidently that I was ripped off. The repair took about 20 minutes and did not require any additional materials on their end. They ended up removing the base, putting in a few drills to fix the split wood, and then reattached the base. When it was all said and done, I paid $816 with tax and was just completely taken aback.
I had sent a note immediately to the owner just asking him to explain the breakdown of that cost. He followed up with a copy of my invoice but did not address my additional questions. I did send another follow up but so far, have yet to hear back (which isn't to say that he very well could send me a note explaining). However, I don't know what part of their visit or repair could end up equating to $800.
I would definitely recommend this company to anyone in New York who has disposable income and isn't concerned with a repair price tag. They respond quickly, are on-site within a few days, and do everything in your home. However, if you are someone who is unfamiliar with this landscape and don't have a spare $800, I wouldn't recommend using them. In the end, I feel like I was taken advantage of perhaps because I am a woman and therefore easily duped when it comes to things like this. I consulted multiple friends after the fact and everyone laughed in my face for what I paid. Extremely disappointing given the current state of the world and economy, and a hard life lesson learned by me.
Quick service and our couch looks like it was never dismantled. Thanks!
Dishonest. Owner quoted a range of prices then called when the movers arrived and charged the highest end of the estimate when it was already too late to get another mover. Found out later that the movers had damaged my front door when they took it off the hinges and put it on the sidewalk costing me even more money.
They employ predatory techniques. Charged us $375 for a house visit because they physically put their hand on a couch (they were not going to cut it) despite being quoted for $275 and us using a team of professional movers. They refused to leave without the extra $100. I highly recommend other services like Dr Sofa instead.
Don't use this service! I was hustled. Gave me an estimate then said it was double because I didn't tell him there was 2 pieces - Which I did and sent pictures. Said if I didn't pay he would take it apart. DON'T USE.
