I would very highly recommend Next Moving Company for their great work, professionalism and customer service. My experience with them was super positive. The office staff was responsive and helpful in providing an estimate and setting up a move date, and communication with them was always prompt. The movers were fantastic! They texted in the morning with their arrival time and arrived on time. They worked very efficiently and with much care and attention, which put me at ease. I had a particularly large, heavy item that required much effort, but they handled it with lots of skill. Before ending the job, they made sure that their work was satisfactory and everything was correctly in place. They definitely surpassed my expectations for good service and for a good moving experience!
I was disappointed using this service , there is no transparency and they are extra hidden fees ! My bookshelf was broken and the worker didn’t seem to care , and one of the workers used my bathroom without asking me ! I was helping load my own furniture and I see him get out of the bathroom leaving the toilet seat up ! Not professional ! They work slower to charge you more hours ! I ended up helping to hurry up the process, use another service !!!!! Didn’t have any change when I paid . Just no .
Great team all around. They made the booking and actual move a breeze. The entire process took around 3 hours and the movers were on time, kind, and considerate. The price was great and Stacy at the office even called me after I booked a Sunday move to see if I wanted to move earlier for a lower rate. 10/10 would book again
After having our house effects and furniture in California public storage for more than 10 years, we finally decided to move them to our new house while we are still living overseas. To organize a long distance interstate move from overseas was a real challenge. After contacting and comparing 8 companies we decided to select Next Moving and we do not regret it at all. We had more than 350 boxes of different sizes to be moved from 3 fully packed units around San Francisco to a house in San Diego County. Since the beginning the communication with Ian was quick, focusing on practical points, asking relevant questions to best understand our needs to finally answering with the best proposition. Not only was Next Moving company the cheapest quote but it was the only one which included organizing this long distance move in California in one overnight trip. Preparation was done through emails, sharing pictures and packing lists as well as details of several particular items. Not being present during the move, we worked with our children to be at the origin and the destination. It worked perfectly. Ian was able to provide us 2 fully equipped truck (2,200 cbft) with 4 professional movers. They arrived at the public storage and worked nonstop for 7 hours to empty the 3 units and load the 2 huge trucks. They arrived mid-day the following day at the house and started to directly unload the trucks. As the majority of the boxes did not need to be unpacked, they placed them in the garage. Following a map shared with our daughter who was present at the house, they unpacked and carefully placed about 10 excessive and fragile pieces of furniture in the house. The whole process was again done in less than 6 hours with no damage and nothing lost. The payment system was also done very smoothly and with absolute respect of the original quote and work order. Our children have been extremely pleased by the quality of the work, the efficiency of the movers and their very pleasant attitude. The next day Ian called our son to check on the service. It has been a success far beyond our expectation. We will not hesitate to highly recommend Next Moving to friends and colleagues who need to organize similar moves in California. Amy and Luc
I used Next Moving for an overnight long distance move from Michigan to Maryland. I was offered 2 movers and one 'fully equipped truck.' They sent one driver, Dan, who flew to Michigan, rented a truck, and hired local help in each location for help with loading and unloading.
I was overall quite disappointed with my experience and surprised with the issues encountered based on all the positive reviews. Here are some of my concerns:
- The truck was far too large for my move (at least three times too big), and my driver, Dan, had some difficulty maneuvering it into a parking spot. I requested the length the day before (it was not communicated without me asking) to ensure I reserved enough parking, but it would be nice if the expectations for parking and space needed to maneuver it were communicated ahead of time.
- The payment was expected to be paid 50% at load and 50% at unload but this was never communicated to me so I prepared only one cashiers check. They were accommodating but this could easily be resolved with better communication before the move.
- They did not have any tools for disassembly or assembly. I fortunately had not packed away all my tools and offered mine for them to use, however they broke and lost some tools during the move.
- When Dan arrived to unload he said his local help did not show up. The help in Michigan said they had only been called that morning to help, so I wonder if they simply couldn't find someone to help on such short notice, but either way ultimately I was left with only one mover to unload the entire truck and some big pieces of furniture. I helped with some things when Dan asked, like the mattress and couch, because I wanted to ensure those things were safely moved inside without damage.
- Most boxes were crushed, even though they were tightly packed. Fortunately I had used enough protective packing materials that only a few items broke.
- Finally there was some damage done to my wood floors, that I filed claim for and they offered a nominal reimbursement to cover.
I was pleased to have overnight delivery, but given this experience I would not use this company again and do not recommend them. Better communication could resolve some of the issues, but the quality of the move and services provided were also a major issue.
After my mother (who was also present for the move) posted a critical but honest review, I received a call from Ian. I had already communicated most of these concerns to Ian when he called for a survey the day of the move, and this was about two weeks later. Instead of him being understanding and willing to help resolve the complaints, he was confrontational and offensive. After these interactions I further regret hiring this company and cannot emphasize enough how much I do not recommend working with them. He offered me $300 to have my mom remove her review or increase the star rating. This is a negligible amount compared to what I paid and certainly not enough to demonstrate genuine remorse for the disappointing and unprofessional service I received.
Also none of the movers wore masks or gloves, if this is something you are concerned about I would contact the movers before their arrival and confirm they will follow the protocol they mention on the website.
UPDATE in response to Ian's reply:
My opinion of Next Moving DID change after speaking to Ian over the phone when he called to complain about my mom's reviews. Not because he wouldn't consider reimbursing to a cost in which poor service would have been more fair but because of his clear goal to manipulate customer reviews and extremely confrontational tone. Up until this point I thought I just had a one-off bad experience with this company and I now believe he attempts to bully customers into removing or changing reviews.
Buyer beware!
