North American Van Lines

Paul Ryan gave me an initial briefing on the services provided. His first sentence over the phone was that American Van Lines is a full service moving company and NOT a broker. Well, on the day of moving, I found out they are a broker.

Besides this, he explained a full process to me about getting an estimate of the weight of my items to which I had asked — “How will the weight be verified?” His response was that the items would be taken to a packing facility after pickup and the weight would be verified in which then the final amount would be charged and likely differ from the estimate. I signed on my estimate which was received a few days before pickup, later to realize that this was a binding estimate. After calling Paul, he gaslit me that he had never told me any of the process, and that they would NEVER get the true weight of my items. The company is able to estimate whatever weight they believe and charge you for it without ever checking the true weight.

Lastly, I had my PC packed by the movers. Paul had told me that if boxes were not damaged but items were, they would not be covered—Unless the boxes were packed by the movers. My PC ended up having broken components like my GPU bending. This could have only happened if the PC was dropped hard. My dresser was also banged up.

Overall, I was lied to twice and deceived out of my money. I had a terrible experience and will never recommend this company, ever.

I was moving my elderly mother and needed help in a stressful situation.The crew was great. They were careful wrapping our glass and TVs. They were punctual and polite. I'll definitely use them again for my next move.

Jason and his son were very helpful and diligent. Solving problems on the fly with good humor.

This company is the worst. The various staff you encounter are not on the same page. They are not transparent about the final cost and you end up paying more than expected at the end. At this point they already have your belongings so you cannot contest the final bill without jeopardizing your access to your belongings. When you try to complain and find solutions, the managers are unhelpful. Before you sign paperwork they are very responsive and helpful. But as soon as you’re locked into the agreement it is hard to reach them or get a call back. Also, they lost some of my items, broke a lot of my bins, and several other large items arrived broken.
