Beware! I hired North American to move my furniture from Illinois to New York. When the load arrived in New York (later than promised) a good deal of furniture was broken: a table leg cracked, a chair leg broken, a bookcase smashed, an armoire, a mattress slashed, a mirror frame for a dresser broken. Some could be repaired (and the company paid for this). But the bookcase was completely smashed. And the broken armoire (solid oak made in 1905) could not be repaired because the local company lost some of the key broken pieces (perhaps because these were smashed beyond recognition?) The company reimbursed reasonably for the bookcase but (initially) agreed to pay barely half what it will cost to buy a new armoire (merely a functional one, not the beautiful antique destroyed). Worst moving experience ever! Clearly the company is hiring people (perhaps paying very little) who lack the needed skills to load a truck with furniture. Added note: after a couple of weeks, following my complaint about the settlement (here and at the Better Business Bureau) they reconsidered and increased the reimbursement.
Absolutely awful—not recommended at all. They contract with third party movers without any vetting. All they do is take your money and contract out the services you paid for. My parents were assigned to The Beltmann Group to relocate from New York to North Carolina. What a nightmare—they scratched my the floors, my parents’ car; they broke antique figurine lamps that cannot be repaired; they broke a leg of a loveseat; they broke a piano leg and had the audacity to try to hide it with glue; they unexpectedly changed the moving date; and they refused to assemble my parents’ bed before they left.
Do not use a company that makes their money off of contracting services to unvetted third parties.
Excellent
Not bad. Overall is good.
