I had an incredibly flawless experience with Olympia Movers for a short-distance move (with overnight storage) in Chicago.
Shane was easy to coordinate with, and Jose, who led the team of 3 men was extremely professional and helpful. Not a single item was damaged, and Jose made sure to have his team arrange all furniture how I had asked.
Moving is never fun and is often stressful, but I am so happy I chose Olympia Movers for this move. I'll definitely use them next time!
They did a horrible job. It took 3 guys over 12 hours to move 2, one-bedroom apartments into one new place. All of which were less than 5 miles apart. The crew arrived with a truck already half full, and couldn't even fit the entire contents of the first apartment in the space left available. My mattress was wedged into the liftgate. I've moved over a dozen times in Chicago and I've never seen such slow, poorly strategized work.
We also had several items that were damaged in the move. We are still waiting for the company to resolve this. Strangely, they now seem to not answer phone calls or emails...
Terrible experience. I do not reccomend.
I used them in 2009 to move my furniture from Chicago Illinois, right at the border of Evanston to Neveda. They broke some of my furniture. They stripped the legs off my dresser which was very expensive. But worse part was when they were on the way, they called and to tell me that the furniture went over the weight... And charged us an extra $1200 to get are furniture. So in all we paid over $2500 to get a 2 bedrm apartment to a 3bdr house. I would not recommend them to anyone if my life depended on it. They are Shysters. They had other people furniture in the truck that they had to deliver, and I had to tell them some of the furniture they were bringing in was not mines. They didn’t have the furniture tagged properly. Horrible company
This company was provided to me by a third party company for my move across state lines from Chicago. When they showed up the paperwork and driver's stated that they were from My Move Chicago (which I believe is a parent company of this one) and the bill of laden had Olympia Moving.
The lead mover was extremely unprofessional, pushy, and tried to up-charge me on everything from the time that he arrived. I was told the company could not accept credit cards because their system was 'down' despite having this stated explicitly in my contract. Instead of working with me to resolve the issue, the movers were instructed to go to the next job and came back 4 hours later in the evening to finish my job.
I had expedited shipping and they did not honor that. They did refund that cost however, during the delay the dispatch/manager Shai was not in communication with me about anything. I had to contact the scheduling company to get the movers to communicate with me.
When my belongings arrived two weeks later. All of my boxes were beaten up including my furniture. Some of the boxes/bins were splitting at the seam or broken entirely (luckily we bubble wrapped everything). A couple pieces of the furniture were broken. Note: Press board is not covered by moving companies in general so is not refunded if broken.
Overall I got my belongings, 2 weeks late, most of my new boxes were demolished indicating they didn't take caution in moving the shipment. Technically they 'moved' my belongings but there has to be better options out there. I wouldn't advise anyone to use these guys.
Just moved last week! They were fabulous! Ben was very easy to communicate with. Very fast and efficient. They just got the job done. No damages. Move took less time than the estimate also! Definitely reccomend!
