I had contacted 1 of the bigger moving companies in the Elmira NY area and received an estimate which I thought was rather high but since we were moving from Horseheads to Fairport, NY I thought probably the price was in the ballpark. So fast forward a few weeks and I had sent an email to this bigger company to set up a move date but never heard back.
So fortunately I was sitting at the gas station in Horseheads when this moving truck went by and I was fortunate to catch the name on the door, Phil's Moving company. So I looked them up, contacted them and gave him a list of what I had to move and he gave me an estimate of 10 hrs at $175 as Fairport is 2 hours away. The big guys charge by weight and mileage so not much flexibility on price. With Phil's hourly rate there's a chance if the guys work quickly and efficiently the price could be less.
So on moving day Scott, Albert and Mike pulled up and got right to it being careful with our furniture but working efficiently. They got loaded quickly, said they were gonna just make a quick stop at Dandy and head up. I took right off and drove straight up and only beat them by 5-10 minutes. And then as loading the unload was just as quick and efficient as the loading and the final cost was $600+ less than the estimate and almost 2/3 less than the big guys. I was very happy with the whole process and tipped them appropriately.
I will pass the information onto the buyer of our house as he's also moving from 2 hrs away.

I would highly recommend Phil's Moving Company. They are just THE best!!!! My most recent move (not my first with them) invloved second and third floors on both ends of the move, with heavy furniture, many many boxes, heat and rain. I did not envy them their work that day.
The crew was very responsible, very careful, very conscientious, on time, and diligent. There was no time wasted. They are GREAT guys. I would use them again without question.
