Piece of Cake Moving and Storage

Writing this about my friend’s recent move, which I helped with and was present for everything.

We hired Piece of Cake to move some boxes and small furniture out of a U-Haul truck in NYC to bring into an apartment on the 4th floor. When the movers arrived, they instantly were rude and demanded that I moved the U-haul and double park on a single lane one-way road in the middle of NYC. I told them I can’t, and that this is the closest spot (it was half a block, not even, away from the apartment building). They then called the office, who informed us after promising our quote was final and firm, that this will take longer than 2 hours and therefore they’re charging an extra hour at $150 more. While I was explaining this to my friend, probably looking like I was stressed out, one of the movers became hostile and asked “do you have a problem with me” aggressively, which scared me and my friend had to tell him to back off. This frustrated us while we were calling the office to settle the payment. At this point, the movers had already unloaded a quarter of the truck onto carts and the sidewalk, and then they just stopped doing work and stood there. They then proceeded to put everything back in the truck and just left the truck open and fled the scene.

Thankfully, the office sent new movers out and they finished the job in less than 2 hours. This whole fiasco delayed us by HOURS and made the move unnecessarily stressful. I still had to drive back to my home state that day, and because of this, I didn’t get home until much later. Not to mention, I was terrified from having a 6 foot tall man who was trying to come at me, a 5 foot tall woman. I wish we would have just went with the other business we were looking at.

I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Piece of Cake moving. From the very first interaction to the final of the move they were top notch. Excellent communication leading up to the move. Day of the move, they kept in touch with me to update me as the time was approaching. The movers were prompt, caring and personable. I felt they handled delicate items with care and just over all did a wonderful job. I can not say enough positive things about Sasa crew 116 !! thank you for making my day easy.

4th time using Piece of Cake- they are amazing!! Pricing is excellent, but best of all is the employees. They make everything so easy and pleasant. Can’t imagine a better experience.
