Had a great experience with PODS. Delivery. Pickup. And delivery again were all smoothless and on our schedule. The staff we dealt with (over the phone and in person) were all courteous and seemed genuinely concerned about what we needed and wanted. Final delivery was going to be the most difficult because of space but the driver (Marcelo) did a great job and wouldn’t leave until I was happy with the placement. Hopefully I don’t move anytime soon but when I do will definitely call on PODS again.
Leo, a PODS employee for 19 years, came when one of the other drivers didn’t want to put the extra work into picking up the pod. Leo went above and beyond and he got the pod out of my backyard and onto his trailer in less than 20 mins! With seasoned veterans of the company like Leo, I know that PODS are in good hands! A Scathing Review of PODS: Beware of Hidden Fees and Deceptive Practices
I had the misfortune of using PODS for my recent move, and I am compelled to share my harrowing experience with their services. If you’re considering using PODS, brace yourself for what might be one of the most frustrating and financially draining experiences you’ll encounter.
To start with, PODS presents itself as a convenient and cost-effective moving solution. However, this is a facade hiding a deeply problematic business model rife with hidden fees and poor customer service. My ordeal began when I was charged a $200 delivery fee to move my storage pod to a PODS facility located 32 miles away from my original home. When I purchased a house 13 miles away from my old residence, I requested PODS to deliver the pod to my new home, which was a mere 27 miles from their facility.
Here’s where the nightmare truly began: despite my new house being closer to their facility than my previous address, PODS demanded a staggering $600 for the delivery. Their rationale? The facility where my pod was stored allegedly does not service my new zip code, even though it’s 7 miles closer to their location than where they picked up the pod for a mere $200.
To make matters worse, the new facility is charging me a full month’s storage fee even though the pod will only be there for a single day before being delivered to my new address. This “1-day storage” is being billed at an exorbitant additional fee of $350.
In total, I am facing an outrageous $750 in additional, hidden, and deceptive fees. When I reached out to PODS customer service, their representatives expressed understanding and empathy, but ultimately, they were powerless to rectify the situation. They escalated the issue to another group, but this ‘escalation’ was a mere formality, as this group also dismissed my complaint.
PODS’ customer service is a hollow promise. Their refusal to address these glaring issues and their blatant disregard for fair pricing expose their true colors. The so-called “convenience” of PODS is overshadowed by a web of hidden fees and a customer service structure that offers no real solutions or recourse.
If you value transparency, fairness, and genuine customer support, I strongly advise you to avoid PODS. Their deceptive practices will likely leave you feeling swindled and powerless. Save yourself the trouble and seek out a moving company that upholds integrity and customer satisfaction.
