They broke items in the POD because their driver dropped the POD from a significant height. They showed up 3 day before the date that was scheduled with no notice. I scheduled it to be moved on a specific date for a reason. I never even knew they were coming because no one called. PODS said that the items were broken because of how they were packed. I had the unit packed by a professional company so, I know that was a lie. Their driver dropped the POD from a significant height because when it hit the ground it caused the windows in the house to rattle and the entire house to vibrate. The only reason I knew someone had moved the POD was because I went outside to see if something had exploded and noticed that the POD was no longer sitting where I had originally had it placed. They literally only had to move the POD from one driveway to another. They had the nerve to say my things were broken during transit. ARE YOU KIDDING?! They didn't even have to travel down the road...up the street..a few blocks away..it was literally from on driveway to another. There driver sat the damn POD in the middle of the driveway instead of off to the side. So the POD has been blocking one of the driveways since I had it. They won't reimburse me for the items they broke after I've paid them over $12k for keeping the POD. But, they want me to pay them an additional $196 for picking the POD up. PODS is horrible! Don't use them! If they break your stuff...it's your fault! They broke TV's, wall art, dishes my deceased mother gave me when I moved out of my parents house when I was younger. Had the driver showed when he was scheduled, everything breakable would have been removed. Please do not use them! They are too expensive anyways! $235 a month! You'll be better off just taking your things to a traditional storage facility. At least then you won't have worry to about your belongings being broken by someone else and them saying its your fault. PODS needs to reimburse me for the things they broke!
The overall experience to book any containers with them is very frustrating. Rather than allow you to quickly request a quote online you are forced to call an offshore resource who follows a corporate established script. If you are moving more than 50 miles, you can expect to waste at least 20 minutes just to get a quote and at least twice that amount to actually book the containers. From my experiences the representatives are robotic and don’t have any customer service training. They provide you with a lot of scripted jargon that’s likely provided by a corporate attorney then before you can finalize your order they send you to a recorded message that repeats the same information while adding upselling opportunities. I asked for a survey to be sent or to speak with a supervisor but neither occurred any of the times I have spoken with them. My expectation is to always remove as many customer friction points as you can but their policy appears to focus more on their corporate policies without consideration for how it impacts the customers experience. I love the concept of what pods.com has built and encourage them to focus on the overall customer experience rather than a black and white corporate policy.
