I gave them a One Star because there is nothing lower. I have written and posted my review on Primeway Movers' website at least three times but it doesn't stay long, I guess they don’t like people telling the truth about their experience with the moving company. I have tried numerous times to contact them, but they won’t return calls. I did send a memorandum to “12OnYourSide”, hoping they would investigate and show it on their daily news.
Stay away from this company. I am a retired service member with disabilities and was told by the people on the phone they supported the military and even gave discounts for service members. So I contracted them to move me from Virginia to Alabama. I read the reviews and did not see any negative comments so I went them. Their original estimate was higher than other companies but I was told they came in higher and then dropped the price down. They increased their price by almost 50% when they arrived, and they were not on time. The increased their storage fee over $300 after they had the goods in their possession. They offered me “their” additional insurance incase I wanted it. I asked if I really needed it or did they not take care of goods in their possession. They stated they did and I did not take “their” additional insurance. They were late on delivery – two days late and would not return phone calls. They unloaded and hid damages to 4 boxes, most had been marked “Fragile – China”. The only damages/broken items were from those 4 boxes. The damages came to $234.50 (I paid over $7,000 to be moved) but they came back with only wanting to pay $66.00. The reason was because I didn’t take “their” insurance and they were not liable for the other damages. I filed a complaint with the BBB only to get a response from the company that the damages were done while intransit and they were not responsible. Remember they were contracted to move my boxes from Point A to Point B and be responsible for them. I then filed a lawsuit through the Small Claims Court. I gave the court their address from my contract and they mailed the packet by certified mail just to get it returned stating insufficient address. I searched the internet and found another address on their website. The court mailed the packet to that address just to have it returned again for the same reason. I called them (took over 3 days to reach them – they would not return calls). I got lucky and actually spoke to a person who told me that we would have to have the lawsuit served to them. I paid the Sheriff’s department their fee to serve the lawsuit. They elected to not respond to the Court. The court gave them an extra week to respond and then the lawsuit was sent to the County Judge for a decision. The lawsuit was judged to be in my favor, damages plus court costs. This was mailed to them but again they elected to not respond. I was in Virginia for my granddaughter’s graduation and rode to their office. I met someone outside smoking who identified herself as Melissa, the office manager. She would not let me go in the building stating ongoing construction work. We talked for a few minutes and I asked what bank did the company bank with. She named a bank and when I returned to Alabama, I went back to the Small Claims Court and they sent a Letter of Garnishment to the bank and to PrimeWay Movers, just to have it returned stating they had not accounts with this bank.
I have sent numerous follow up emails but never got a response back from them. I normally send a follow up every two weeks. I was calling weekly but they don’t return calls. They have yet to answer on the lawsuit.
EXTREMELY shady company. BUYER BEWARE.
I purchased services to have some furniture moved to Florida with a guaranteed delivery date (about a 2 weeks after pickup). Made the original deposit with balance due upon delivery. I traveled to Florida in anticipation of my move, but unfortunately my relocation was cancelled - not their fault - but I contacted the company as soon as I knew (about one week after they picked up my furniture) to have it returned to its original location. I was willing to pay whatever fuel and services it cost at that point.
While I was in Florida, I spoke to the rep and he verified that they MISSED THE DELIVERY DATE and that my items were STILL in my home state. They hadn’t even LEFT YET. He agreed to return the items and that the cost incurred would be for them loading/unloading, not for travel/fuel/storage to Florida etc.
After returning to my home state, I reached out to the company on multiple occasions to confirm the return of my items. They SCREENED PHONE CALLS FOR WEEKS AND NEVER REPLIED TO EMAILS or messages inquiring the whereabouts of my belongings. Not only did they miss the original delivery date, nearly TWO and A HALF MONTHS LATER, I get a surprise returned phone call saying we can bring your stuff back and that I’d have to pay the full balance owed plus any additional fees. His reason? We held your stuff for two and a half months and we crossed state lines 4 days ago taking your stuff to Florida. If you’re puzzled - imagine how I feel. Again nearly TWO and A HALF MONTHS later, the shady rep –who FINALLY answered a phone call - claimed to have just picked up my items from the “warehouse” 4 days ago and that they can still move it to Florida. Florida? Really? When I asked him WHY they never bothered to return my calls or emails – he simply said they’re not answering because they’re moving the business. I asked where and when they’re moving the business – he doesn’t know. More like – he doesn’t really care to answer that question or the phone. Screen capture the address on google folks, as like me - you may need to sue and serve them in the future.
Finally after debating with the representative, the company is steadfast on NOT RETURNING my items until the full balance is paid. Considering the money I’VE ALREADY LOST for travel expenses and relative value of the items transferred, I refuse to pay them another dime. They can keep the furniture and incur whatever storage/auction cost that might come to them. YOU’VE BEEN WARNED.
I would start by saying that if I could give this company 0 stars I would. However, i would like to say that the person I dealt with directly (Grace) was nothing but kind and helpful throughout this arduous dealing. I was looking for a moving company to relocate my belongings in my apartment from VA to GA. I was given a competitive price and everything seemed to be in order and professional right up until the day of the move. During the date of my supposed pickup, no movers showed up to gather my stuff. I had been told that they would be there around 10-1pm. I waited patiently. No calls or indication that anybody was coming had occurred by 2 pm. So naturally, I try to call the company to figure out what is going on with my move. 8 calls and several emails later, not only did I not receive a response but it was also clear to me my calls were being screened and nobody was responding to them. The next day, I received a call from Grace and she stated that for some reason my deposit had not been processed so no movers had been issued to come on my pickup. In my head all I could think of was why wasn't I informed of this before my scheduled pickup date. So now and I am going to be a full week late on my relocation and this is affecting my work obligations. If reliability is what you are looking for I do not know if this is the company you should trust. LOOK ANYWHERE ELSE. TRULY I CAUTION YOU. ANYWHERE ELSE.
Took 2 weeks longer to arrive than was estimated, and arrived with no movers. We did the work ourselves. Unhelpful, unfriendly, unresponsive. Felt like we were robbed.
