O god. Where do I begin.
1. I told the man about the missing lightbulb ? and he said 'Yeah. That's how it is...' Excuse me? I paid $500+ USD? a month for this storage unit. That is not how you are gonna talk to me. If someone wants a simple ?, just apologize then work out an arrangement to get them a simple lightbulb.
2. Which brings me to point #2. The price.? It's outrageous (I needed something in a hurry). Then they raised the price to $624? before I left. Yes, they all do this. And it's disgusting, so I'm complaining. *spits*
3. The key ? broke off in my lock ? and there was no one around to help. No one ever responded to my calls or texts. The lock was stuck OPEN ? and I didn't want to leave my unit unsecured. Thankfully there was an ACE Hardware nearby and I paid OOP (out of pocket) for my own.
I was too busy to tell them about it until the day I checked out, and that is 100% my fault. But still. They REFUSED to refund me for the lock ?, only offer me a credit should I ever do business with them again, which, at this point, I won't. They refused once again when I contacted them through the online chat.
Folks, this is not how you do business. If someone asks for $20 ? for a broken lock, just apologize and give them $20 ?. Especially after they spent a couple thousand ? over the course of a few months. There is absolutely no excuse to be stingy over something so petty. It never works out well. Now I'm just gonna have to file a dispute with my credit card company to make them pay. *Sigh*
This is not how you do business. Absolutely terrible. ?
I’ve been using this Public Storage facility for a little over a year now. Before you decide to do business with this company, let me tell you what my experience is like. Upon entering the front office, you will be greeted via video call from a service agent through a kiosk. The service agent was friendly and approachable even though they are not present. I give kudos to the high tech approach given by Public Stoage.
Here is the downside. The reason for my 1 star is that friendly “customer service” stops at the moment you sign the agreement papers. I’m always traveling abroad and at times, I have no internet or phone service for days on end to remote locations, so at times I have to pay monthly dues a few days late and knowingly pay the late fees with no issues. I refuse to do autopay as I prefer to keep tabs on my account. However, I’ve come to realize that this company is highly aggressive against customers who pay their dues a few days late.
You will start receiving aggressive communications from the main office with the words “ The Owner “DEMANDS” and the owner has a “LIEN” against all properties in all units. However, in NYS, no storage company can put a lien on your property until 30 days after a due date. The aggressive behavior and communication is appalling and disgusting.
I have 2 other storage facilities in NYC and none use such aggressive communication while employing fear tactics to induce stress into clients who pay every month every month despite being a few days late. I reiterate… it’s highly disgusting behavior.
Lastly, who are the people who live on the property? Are they onsite managers? Custodians? Security? Clients have knocked on the door of this residential space for assistance and are usually verbally accosted by a burly overgrown man who is disrespectful and rude. Don’t bother knocking on the door as they will tell you to drive to the next Public Storage up the road to speak to a manager. I’ll be planning to vacate Public Storage soon due to the lack of respect towards clients. Appalling!
