I’m new at this location and Denise was a real lifesaver, helping me find the right size unit. I can’t thank her enough; she’s a real asset to your company!
Denise has been a wonderful assistant for me always helpful very very courteous and has been a joy for me to have to deal with the only reason I left your property was because you kept jacking the rent on me will miss Denise won’t miss you
Update: I have to update and say that with another year of using Public Storage, I am still happily renting from them. Denise helped me immensely when I moved one of storage areas to a new Public Storage in Columbia, SC. She explained the full process of the move out (move all out, clean unit, leave door open and take key knob with you). She was also helpful with further billing issues that I have had. I highly recommend Public Storage to anyone for their storage needs.
Previous Review: I have used Public Storage for years. They are the most helpful, genuinely nice people who love their jobs and it shows. Just recently, Katie who was workong at the Knotts Abbott location in Cayce, SC helped me with my stprage needs and even helped jump start my car when i really needed it and had had a very early flight. I am a customer for life!
Denise was so helpful and sweet. Thanks for all your help! She is the best!!!
Beware!
Update 08/31/2024
Another rate hike. $191 for an unconditioned 10x10.
Update 11/13/2022
Again, a rate hike. Though it didn't just happen, my original rate about 3 years ago has almost doubled to the now current rate of $133/mo for a 10x10 unconditioned unit. I fully expect another one in the upcoming months, as this seems to be their method of operation. I'm sure it's all under the guise of 'fair market value' too, and little can be done except be able to buy a home in this ridiculous market and move all my items there. At least I know that once I do, this ungodly payment will happily fit into my mortgage instead.
Update 11/22/2021
Here's the thing. Within 4 months of renting a unit, they tried to increase my rate to $92, but after complaints, they lowered it into the $80 range. It's now two years after renting and my rate has gone up almost $30, in the name of competitive pricing. However, it only took about a year to replace the damaged side gate and now the doors to many units are peeling paint. Not a good look or feeling that the increased cost is worth being here. I've read the recent reviews and they all seem like initial renters, but I wonder if they'll have similar complaints after being here for a few months.
Sure, it's convenient, and the gates give an air of security, but if I had to do it all over again...I wouldn't.
Update 4/2021:
Without an email of notification about upcoming increases, they merely send a new bill stating the increased price, hoping you won't notice until it's too late. Last year, at the beginning of COVID, my bill initially increased 24% until I complained and it was partially reduced to $80. This year, they did it again with a small $5 increase, but they still haven't fixed their side gate after many months as it looks as if someone tried to drive through it. Now it appears to be held together with yellow caution tape. They're betting you'll move your things in and won't move out again for awhile, so they'll keep increasing their prices any time they have an opportunity.
Update 2020: When you start your rental, they mandate you have their insurance, provided through OrangeDoor. What they don't let you know is there is a $100 deductible for damage due to 'vermin.' This means that if part of your bed is damaged due an animal, but costs $125 to replace, you need to pay $100 before they pay the rest. Their insurance is a scam since you MUST pay for it, even if you have insurance from your own company. Go someplace else and buy your own insurance. At least you'll be more aware of the costs, instead of being forced into an unknown.
Original:
This place may look nice but their policies are terrible.
Less than a week after moving in, my unit was invaded by an animal that burrowed into a box spring that was only a few months old. When I went to tell the front office, they said that the mandatory insurance was handled by a third party and I have yet to receive a final disposition, almost 5 months later. I was also offered a different unit, but unless they were willing to pay to move all my things a very short distance, it wasn’t practical. All the units have a space near the ceiling, allowing for animals to move from one unit into another, and they couldn’t guarantee the animal wouldn’t invade the new space.
Now they send me a bill for an increased rate, from $74 to $92, in the middle of the coronavirus outbreak, and when I called, they said an email notice was sent previously. However, no email about rates increases has been found, despite receiving all my emailed bills at a regular time and without problems.
The supposed justification for this is property maintenance, but I’ve never seen any place jack their rates up 25%, suspiciously when storage units are in demand due to a public pandemic!
The location is convenient, and until the rate increased I was willing to settle. But now this is becoming ridiculous. If you’re already here, find somewhere else, if you’re not, look elsewhere.
Two stars because the property is decent, but poor business practices.
