Used this place for many years - it has consistently increased its price while quality of facility and services has plummeted. We’ll be moving out.
TL;DR: This place aggressively raises prices while providing an increasingly degrading customer experience. There is no human staff to provide support or take accountability for the property. I look forward to getting my belongings safely out of here asap.
My experience:
- My rent has been more than doubled in the 2 years I've had the unit. Whatever, that's how they want to do business.
- Support for the property is unreachable. Before my recent visit, I attempted to get in contact with property management multiple times via phone (no email or online contact available). With no response, I figured I'd just speak to the staff in-person when I got to the site.
- I fly in this weekend to visit the site and prepare for a move. My access code doesn't work. The app doesn't work. There is no staff, just a kiosk with a video playing on repeat. The kiosk touchscreen to contact video support doesn't work. The property manager does not answer or respond to voicemail. After 20 minutes I eventually figure out I can summon someone in a call center by pressing the handicapped button on the kiosk. The video continues to loudly play, making it difficult to hear support as they help me get in the gate.
- While at the site I find some of my belongings have been damaged by water which has pooled in my climate controlled unit. I see a dumpster in the back corner of the property with other's items in & around it. With no staff to talk to, I throw my water damaged items with some other unneeded items into/next to the dumpster. Within 2 days I am hit with a fine which has been auto-charged to my credit card for disposal of goods. Of course, there was no option to contact someone to discuss/dispute the charge.
I've had considerably better experiences with other businesses in the area and would advise trying your luck elsewhere. This place isn't even trying to hide that they're squeezing their customers for money while providing the bare minimum they can in return.
STAY AWAY. Once they replaced the onsite staff with a robo-kiosk, this place went downhill fast. Homeless people live there now - luckily most of them nice, but still. And there was a robbery last year where criminals used an employee code to access the facility after hours. Our unit was hit, along with others. PS said their cameras didn't work. Then later came up with some footage the cops said was unusable. Overall, they didn't help the cops much. And it took 4 months to get paid from their orange door insurance.
Of course, the gate breaks once per week. And the access hours change often, without forewarning.
All this while rents rise higher than ever. STAY AWAY. If you must get storage, get something with a person onsite. Or an interior unit with a wall that goes all the way up to the ceiling (most do not) to prevent the new style of burglary that is common at these unmanned facilities.
This is conveniently located near my apartment, Publix and UPS. It's cost-effective. The staff has been responsive. I met the manager, Ro, she provided helpful staffing information because the location is not physically staffed. They have a virtual management contact system. She comes on site only intimately.
It is convenient and the recent repairs and capital improves has drastically improved the property. I like the Kiosk and the ease to contact someone at Public Storage if there is a problem. However, the climate-controlled environment we pay for is anything but that for the past 6 weeks. The temperature on the floor of our units has been 95 or higher during that time. While I have been told they will replace the AC units that have failed, I have been given no timetable for its completion. Also, the main security gate has been in a ‘open position’ during the days I went there. This after the keypad to exit the gate was inoperable with the only way to get out was to call an 800 number. So, we are paying for a secure and climate-controlled environment and at this time we have neither. On top of that, public storage raised our unit monthly rent 25%. If the problems above are not fixed I will probably move my belongings out.
