I rented a 26’ Uhaul here for an in-town. Had the truck 2 days. I was going to extend the rental, but it was already booked for the following day. So we had to rush to get the truck back. I have rented a lot of Uhauls. Never had an experience like this one…

I cleaned the box like always, blow with a blower and sweep. Due to my time constraints getting it back in time for the next rental, I couldn’t clean the cab as well as I usually do. As such, there was a little dirt on the floor. No trash, just some dirt.

Long story short, I got the final bill and he had charged me $200 for a cleaning fee. He took photos and most were of the outside of the truck. It’s been rainy here for months. Impossible to not have some dirt fly up as we went down a dirt road.

I tried to contact the office, but they don’t answer the phone. They want you to text. I sent a text asking to discuss the additional charges. Their response was to contact Uhaul. They gave me no number or contact details that I should call. I sent a follow up text to ask and they had blocked my number.

The whole experience was just weird and handled poorly.

I contacted Uhaul and explained what happened. Uhaul ultimately refunded me $150 of the cleaning fee as they didn’t feel $200 was warranted either.

I would have gladly paid $50-$60 for cleaning the dirt out of the cab if the owner had just communicated with me.

They may be great for full service moving, but I would not recommend renting a Uhaul here.

Jackson & Taylor did the work of a 4 man team in a timely manner. They took care and respected every parcel, box and piece of furniture they moved from the truck into the house! I highly recommend this company and these fellas!
