Riverview Family Chevrolet went out of their way to help us when we were unexpectedly stranded in Oacoma on a road trip. Staff was helpful, friendly and prompt-getting us in quickly on a weekend! Thanks so much!
Had to tow my dad's truck in for service - had a rocky start with not so great communication/mixed expectations on deadlines.. but after speaking with Anthony the owner, the truck was seen right away and repaired. Blake was able to get it back to us today. They are very nice people there, everyone has bad days, so don't give up too quick.
Glad I waited to post a review for this dealership until I recently found out the truth..
We had a new, 2024 Chevy 1500 Duramax that we took on a roadtrip from UT to MN. On our way back home to UT, our DEF gauge went from full to empty in a split second, throwing the check engine light on and sending the truck into limp mode.. Riverview was the closest dealership we could get the truck into at the time..
As soon as we got there, we were told that they cleared the code and we were good to go on our way.. Well, we made it less than 50 miles and ran into the same exact issue — engine light and limp mode. We turned around and headed right back to the dealership..
This time, they cleared the code and wanted to see if they could drive the truck around a little and get it to replicate the code again.. When that did not work, they told us they needed to keep the truck overnight and that they would work on replacing the DEF heating element in the morning.
After staying overnight in a hotel nearby, we were told the truck would be finished up around noon. At noon, we headed back to the dealership to then wait SIX more hours.. At this point, we were completely over it and beyond fed up. We were a thousand miles from home, with our dog, and needed to get back to work asap.
They finally told us we were good to go and along we went….but guess what happened not even 100 miles down the road….if you guessed engine light and limp mode, you’d be correct!
At this point, there was no way in hell I was bringing it back to a dealership that couldn’t seem to get it right, TWICE. We called family that dropped everything and started heading our way.
I then got the idea to top off the DEF every 50 miles and turn the truck off for a moment, to have it maybe reset itself somehow..I don’t know, I was desperate for anything to work.. Well, miraculously, this idea worked, and got us all the way back home.
Once back at our home dealership, that same week, we told them that Riverview replaced the heating element and based off of that, they tried to troubleshoot other issues that could be causing this headache.
It has now been a year and one month later, and the same issue has popped up 4 more times..
Aside from DEF being the dumbest thing to ever be added to diesels, this dealership lied straight to our faces. Today, we were just informed that the heating element had in fact, never been replaced.
So now, here we sit, 7 dealership visits later, over something that COULD HAVE and SHOULD HAVE been fixed the first (well, second) time around. I expected way better from a small town dealership….but boy was I regretfully mistaken.
Y’all just saw two people who were a long ways from home and wanted us outta your hair asap.
Btw, something else we found out…this dealership grouped those TWO instances and TWO different days, into ONE visit. Which could have screwed us royally if we wanted to go the Lemon Law route…so yeah, that was also super “nice” of them to do..
Traveling from out of state and had a DEF heater failure on a duramax 6.6. Called 5 dealerships in SD and Riverview was the only dealership willing to work us in on short notice. Thanks to Blake the service manager and the diesel tech in service for getting us back on the road.
I was driving across S.D. on my way to NY when i had a fuel injector go out on my 2018 Denali with the 6.6L Duramax. It was early on a Friday afternoon and Riverview kindly rearranged their schedule to get me back on the road that day. I finished the trip to NY and back to CO, I've driven the truck around home and I went elk hunting and I haven't had any trouble with that injector. The price was the same as my 'home' dealership (replaced a different injector earlier this year). I would recommend the dealership and service department as being competent and helpful. I can't thank them enough for taking care of me that day.
