Starline Van Lines, and a guy named Peter specifically (I won't use his last name but please be wary of any Peter you speak with), are scam artists. I spoke with Peter for over an hour to book my move last summer, and he assured me they could stay within my budget. He sent me an itemized document saying how many boxes and what furniture would fit within the space allotted for my move.

When the actual company showed up (a subcontractor, as Starline is just a middleman), the ultimate costs ended up being nearly twice as much as what I was quoted, despite the actual amount of stuff I was moving being smaller than what was on the document Peter sent me. The man who decided that I had too much stuff for the allotted space (and increased my price) was literally just eyeballing it - which either means he was making up numbers, that Peter is totally incompetent at his job, and/or the whole thing is a scam designed to take advantage of people during one of the most stress-inducing life events.

I couldn't get ahold of Peter on the day of the move because it was a Sunday, and he had only given me his direct line and not a weekend-available customer service line (and I was too stressed from arguing with the mover to think straight). When I tried to contact Peter several times in the days following, he never returned my calls or answered my emails. I have not heard from him at all.

TLDR: Terrible people, terrible company.
