Friendly, Professional, Great Communication, Great Value, and Reliable. Safe and Sound Moving helped me move to my new property after contacting them day of, due to my previously arranged movers falling through. They have my business and recommendation moving forward.
I hired Safe & Sound to pack, move and unload from a 2,100 square foot home to a new home 40 mins away. I'll start by saying that it took their team of 4-5 people 18 hours to complete the move, for a total cost $7,700 (including the ~$400 of tip I gave). I will provide some facts below to help future customers to make an informed decision.
1) The move was much slower than it should have been for a team of that size (this should normally be 10-12 hours) and for the quality of move I received. I've done full service 4 moves in 4 years (both domestic and international) and this was by far the slowest team. Both team leaders on my move agreed that the team was slower than it should have been. Despite this, I was offered only $1,550 to make up for the slow service and not file an insurance claim for damaged property. This realistically meant a refund of $750 for the insurance I purchased and $800 in labor (less than 3 hours).
2) The team was late both days, resulting in me spending 2 hours moving materials out of my crawlspace and into the yard so that we could still make the most of the day.
2) I had over 10 items lost or damaged as a result of poor packing. Some examples include the team carelessly placing a decorative glass bowl in the bottom of a box, a shattered picture frame AND I found that the movers had packed some of their trash (used drink bottles) with my materials. In addition, when I reached out to the company's owner for the details of the insurance coverage (which I paid $750 for), the owner tried to dissuade me from using the insurance company and to go through him directly.
3) I had multiple items left at the house which resulted in me having to make 2 return trips to recover items.
4) I observed the team texting, playing with one another and taking turns seeing who could jump the highest to reach my basketball goal at 12 at night (risking waking up my new neighbors)
I could add more but will stop for the sake of brevity. We are currently in a credit card dispute as we could not find a mutually agreeable resolution to the above. My advice to anyone considering hiring this company would be to be explicitly clear with the company about your budget and expectations for timing and quality of packing, loading and unpacking. I would get something signed that would limit cost to a pre-agreed ceiling. I would also purchase the $750 insurance and get that company's contact information before the move started.
