I do NOT recommend Scott Sikes moving company. I can give you 25+ reasons why, but here are the top ten:
1. I found Scott Sikes, as well as one of his workers, to be rude, uncooperative, and disrespectful.
2. The property manager and I told Scott that he must cover the hallway carpet from the service elevator to the condo. He refused.
3. An antique urn was broken because it was not properly wrapped. His response was, “What do you want me to do about it. Read your contract. It is 60 cents per pound.”
4. Scott kept rushing the move and when I confronted him, he told me the manager said he had to have all contents up by 11:45 because the elevator would be shut down at that time. I called the manager, and the manager said that was not true and that he had in fact told Scott he could use it as long as needed.
5. The packing of the boxes was horrible. My vacuum and its parts were thrown into the bottom of a tall box with mops and brooms. Also thrown inside this same box without packing were my expensive robot vacuums along with one of my white pillows from my white chair with no packing material whatsoever.
6. I required that all my paintings be boxed. Some were, some weren’t. Some of those that he did box, he did not even cover the frame, and some of the boxes were falling apart when delivered. Frames were badly damaged.
7. When I started opening my wardrobe boxes, all my clothes were crushed with many off their hangers because in the wardrobe boxes with my clothes, where there should be nothing but my clothes, were large pillows, a comforter, blankets, shoes, towels, my dog’s pee pad, my dog’s scale, lamps to our bed, mop heads, paper towels, and anything imaginable that could be stuffed into the wardrobe boxes with our clothes. All my husband’s golf caps were thrown at the bottom of one box and smushed with all kinds of stuff piled on top. Some of my cloths were ruined. And what can I do about it because the weight of a silk blouse doesn’t justify a claim at 60 cents per pound.
8. Silk plants were thrown at the bottom of boxes with all kinds of stuff packed on top.
9. One of his workers told me that I had one chance to get my carpet how I wanted it and that was it and that he wasn’t moving it again.
10. I had to hire another moving company to come and place my furniture where I wanted it.
Scott Sike’s whole goal was to use as few boxes as possible and to finish as quickly as possible in order to save money on boxes and pay his workers for fewer hours worked. He could have cared less about my things. I paid Scott Sikes $10,000, and this was the kind of service I got.
