S&D Moving Company

I hired S and D Moving Services to move furniture, AV equipment and conference items to the Sheraton San Diego Resort for a conference I was managing. Their customer service responded promptly to request, was very friendly and flexible to last minute adjustments and requests. Their movers, Ryan, Fernando and Ivan were very professional, reliable, prompt, organized and very friendly. Their packing and moving skills were outstanding. I would use them again in any moving and shipments in my future event projects and definitely would recommend them. Great work, guys! Thank you so much, S and D!

Probably the worst moving company I've ever worked with which is surprising because they're so highly rated. That was one of the reasons we chose them. Unfortunately they ended up being non-professional, slow and disrespectful of both our property and our family.

When I called initially, the original quote was around $500 for the 3 hour minimum with 2 guys. They call me the evening before and say they have a 3rd guy available and it'll be $80/hr extra for a total of $230/hr. I was hesitant but he explained that the 3rd would allow them to move much quicker and get the job done faster. So I agreed. They show up the next day and one of the guys seems hung over and they honestly did not look like they wanted to be there. We had everything boxed up and bed/cribs broken down and ready to go but they just moved like snails. Multiple trips I would see one of them only take a single lamp or a single item. The big issue for me was that they broke an expensive lamp and blamed it on us. They said my mother-in-law 'told them' to put it in the driveway and the wind blew it down. I asked her about it and she said she did not tell them to put it there. So not only did they not take responsibility, but they proceeded to blame us for their negligence. Shortly after that, he gave me the bill before the couch was moved in. The bill was $1,200 for a 2 bed, 2 bath 1,000 sq foot condo. It took them 4.5 hours @ $239 per hour for 3 guys which is nuts since another moving company with 2 guys moved our previous place in a little over 4 hours for around $500.

Another thing - they nickel and dimed on everything...$40 for tape, $40 for saran wrap, $40 for blankets. The proverbial straw that broke the camel's back was their gas/driving charge which amounted to $150 for a 1.5 mile drive. I asked him if he was joking and he said, 'no, but I'll give you a 50% discount'. So $70 to drive 1.5 miles. After I paid them $1,200 cash, he didn't say a thing. No eye contact, no thank you for the business, no sorry about the map, no is there anything else you need. They just jumped in the truck and drove off.

The moral of this story is to stay far away from this company. In other words, run for the hillds. Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had with a moving company. If I could give them a negative rating, I would.

S&D Moving was fantastic. From beginning to end, communication was the highlight. Shane, Gonzalo and Vadim continued to ask questions that I wouldn't have thought of, were beyond polite and professional, and I am grateful for such a nice team to work with during a very chaotic weekend of packing, moving and unpacking.
