Seaford Transfer

I booked Seaford Transfer for a long-distance move in September 2022. The movers arrived on time and loaded our belongings largely without incident. The moving truck was set to arrive the next morning, so when it did not arrive promptly I had to make arrangements for people to be available all day to receive it. It wasn't until late in the day when I texted them for an ETA that someone called and told me that the truck had broken down the previous night, hundreds of miles from my new place.

A faulty part had caused the truck to break down, and it had been towed to the nearest large city. They had no idea when a new part would arrive, but were content to allow my belongings to remain in limbo until that happened. They were insistent that they could not get another truck to replace the broken one, even though in the end it took five days to complete what should have been an overnight move. According to them, the truck was too far away (300 miles) for them to be able to do anything, which seemed like an odd attitude for a long-distance moving company.

Finally, on the sixth day after my move began, we received our items. The movers were polite and the unloading went without incident. They apologized for the things that had gone wrong during the move and for the lack of communication, and promised that someone from their financial office would be in touch very soon to arrange compensation for the considerable logistical problems we had faced. I never received a call. After another six days, I called the office and was told they were reviewing my case and would call me that afternoon. They did not call. The next day I called again, and was finally called back by the finance person. He said that after reviewing everything that had happened, they would refund a portion of our money, which ended up being less than 10% of the cost of the move. I accepted it because I was very tired of dealing with it at that point.

Seaford Transfer may be a decent company for a local move. Their movers seem to do a good job loading and unloading. I used them once before just for an unloading job and it went fine. I would absolutely not recommend them for any long-distance or complicated move, or any situation where you cannot physically go into their office to speak with them if necessary.
