Building and grounds are kept well including pests which I was concerned about. Management is very responsive and courteous!
Ive rented here long term.. This storage in Cockysville, MD is the best storage place I've ever used. I've rented storage in many places in my many moves, this place is clean, good rolling carts and bathrooms for this 65yr guy and my wife. The place is dry, cool in the summer. The front office is always there and ready to help. As in any business you can't please all people, 10 stars in my opinion.
Very clean and looks secure
Up until today the service at the Cockeysville, MD location on Beaver Dam Road has been great. However, today when I paid my credit card bill, there was a $14 charge from Self Storage Plus that was pending - which is odd because the unit is paid through 8/15/2024. A little more digging showed I was also charged $14 in February.
I called and spoke to Carlos and he informed me the charges were for insurance because the policy I had on file lapsed. Full disclosure: I have my own rental insurance on the unit, and do not use the insurance they provide. I let him know there has been no lapse in coverage and that I could provide the needed documentation.
I asked if the charges could be refunded, and he said no and went into what sounded like a rehearsed speech about how the State of Maryland requires insurance on the unit. When I rebutted and said the unit has been covered the whole time, he just doubled down and re-recited the MD requirement, further refusing.
I also asked why I was not made aware before the charges took effect. Carlos stated they sent me an email, to which I can confirm he did. Also full disclosure: I lost my email to spam years ago, I must get a minimum of 50 emails a day, which I'm sure others can relate. I can get emails if I know they are coming and to look for them. I requested to change my preference of correspondence to mail so I could be sure to get further notices. This he flat out refused stating it was their policy to correspond through email only. That can't be right. There are plenty of people in this world who are not tech savvy and do not rely on email, or have one, I deal with them daily in my work - so how are these customers serviced? They just aren't?
