Have been storing things here for not even a year and somehow they keep finding ways to shake more money out of us. There is no actual lease signed to lock in a price, like with other storage facilities I've used in the past. So you sign up for one price and a couple months later they will drastically increase it. As of today my statement is more than double what it was when I originally started storing with them less than a year ago. They are betting on the fact that you don't want to deal with moving your stuff to another storage facilitiy so you will pay their price increases.
They notified me yesterday that they didn't have my insurance on file and they would automatically charge an additional amount for their insurance if I didn't provide them with insurance information. Then, a mere 17 hours later, I got the new billing statement with their insurance added. They gave me less than 24 hours to resubmit my insurance information before billing. I did, in fact, submit my insurance information within 30 minutes of them sending the email, by forwarding the exact same email with the exact same insurance documentation that they did recieve in January showing an insurance policy that is still in effect today. They didn't even give enough time for their employees to update their files and add the insurance information in before sending a new bill. I suspect that they are doing this to everyone who has not purchased their insurance, trying to squeeze extra money out of people by hoping people won't notice. They literally won't rent out a unit to you if you don't provide this information up front, so there should be no excuses for not having information on file. Even if they do need updated information, I'm pretty sure a 17 hour notice is not legal and I will definielty be disputing this with my credit card company and the BBB if this charge actually goes through.
The facility is nice and clean but I would strongly recommend storing elsewhere if you are planning on storing anything for more than a couple months.
Nice storage area very well kept clean, nice people.
UPDATE: This location raised their rates on me twice in one year, going from $120/mo to $180/mo. This is clearly its own form of price gouging, as it takes advantage of the fact that you've moved your stuff into the unit, and assume in most cases you will not want to or be able to move your things back out, particularly on short notice, which becomes even shorter when you consider they require notice for you to end your lease by scheduling a move-out date. I immediately moved my stuff out. I refuse to give these people a single penny more.
It was advertised as '1st Month Free' (...and it's still displayed in the windows which can be read from a quarter-mile away), and then $108/mo for a 10'x10', but when I walked in, they said, 'Sorry (not sorry), but that ended 2 months ago. And it's $120/mo for the 10' x 10'.' That being said, it is extremely clean, temperature controlled, secure, and for me, convenient (<1 mi from my location).
Every time I need to come in to pay my storage unit because their over the phone system is malfunctioning the person who is supposed to be working is out to lunch. This doesn’t matter if you come at noon, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, or even 3:00pm. Without fail nobody will be there. I get that people have to take lunch but maybe hire more staff.
Hours are wrong. Nobody was in the front office at 11AM on a Saturday
Edit: Came back the following Saturday (June 24) at 10:15AM and once again nobody was there. Does anybody actually work there?
