After consulting with several different moving companies for my girlfriend's mother, we stumbled upon Silverback Moving Company at the right price. A lot of the other commercial competitors were priced very high and harder to work with as far as specific detail and care for some very sentimental and cherished belongings. The administration staff at Silverback moving made this move/process from Sterling Heights, MI to Rochester Hills, MI very stress free with promptness and professionalism in a timely manner. I will be referring close friends and family in the near future.
UPDATE - (DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!) Two months later I am now working with the Ohio Attorney Generals office to mediate an agreement between Cam Schea (owner) and myself. Once we reached an agreement I have now been waiting almost a month for payment to be sent to me. If you've ever an had issue with this business (Shea Van Lines/Silverback Moving) I can not encourage you enough to please contact the Ohio Attorney Generals office. No one deserves this kind of treatment during the most stressful day of your life or to be wrongfully lied to/about and ignored.
!!!! I booked Shea Van Lines/Silverback Moving (SAME PEOPLE) a couple weeks in advance for Friday, May 26, 2017. When Thursday, May 25th came I got a call to confirm my move for the next day. Kim told me to expect the movers between 9:30-10:15am. She also said they would call before they arrive to let me know they were on their way. On Friday, May 26th, I waited until 10:30 before I finally called Karen at Schea Van Lines/Silverback Moving to ask where the movers were and if she knew when they'd arrive. She said she would call them to find out and call me right back. She never did. I called her again at 10:55 to see if she had found anything out. She said Kim was supposed to call me and at that point, I asked for Kim's direct number myself. I called Kim and she also couldn't tell me when my movers were going to show up. She said to give her an hour to find out. I gave her TWO MORE HOURS, she never called me. I called her back and she said they would likely be there around 5:00pm. The movers finally called me about 3:00pm and said they would be there at 4:15pm. I met them at my apartment and they started at 4:30pm. One of the movers ended up being highly allergic to my cat and I had to go to my neighbors to get him allergy medicine just so he could continue his work, it was awful. They were unhappy and exhausted from their whole day already. They also said they didn't know about my move until right before they got there and that no one had scheduled me with them. They got everything packed and got to my new apartment and started moving everything in. They DAMAGED my bedroom dresser and TORE the NEW flooring in my kitchen/hallway. The movers apologized and said everything would be taken care of and I would be compensated for damages. I also talked to Kim about my damages and she asked that I text her pictures of the damages and I did. She said to give them a couple of days to get back to me, I am still WAITING! The movers also wouldn't even try to move in my washer and dryer because they claimed it wouldn't fit through the door. My maintenance man for my apartment came and got the washer and dryer in just fine, he only needed to remove the door. But because the dryer was now blocking the upstair bedroom all the boxes had to be put in the first floor living room and we have to move everything ourselves after!
It's now 6 days later and no one has contacted me about it at all. I called and talked to Jamie on Tuesday, May 30th, she said she would have her supervisor contact me, I've heard nothing from them. I also talked a man/owner on Tuesday (the movers gave me a phone number and told me it was the owner's direct phone number, it no longer works) and he has yet to get back to me as well. I believe they are now screening my phone number and will not answer when I call. I have filed a complaint with the BBB of Ohio.
This place is dishonest, rude , not customer conscious, untrained at thier jobs. I was quoted about $400 for a move 2 miles away from a 3rd floor to a townhome. I did not have many big items, no appliances. The supervisor came witb the movers, why I dont know cuz she slowed down the whole thing which was the intention I think. My move ended up being almost $700 and they broke my desk, scatched it up and broke a lamp. I complained but the sorry supervisor that sat in her car the entire time lied out her teeth when she returned to her office. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. IT IS A COMPANY THAT CANNOT BE TRUSTED AND DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR THINGS.
They played a key role in my recent move
Silverback Moving was exceptional in nearly every way. A real excellent to deal with, that's rare that is ever said about a mover. However, all details were paid attention to and that is why I'm willing to write a nice review about Silverback Moving.
I had heard about Silverback Moving from a friend that lived not far from our family home in the subdivision. They had a very pleasant experience so we figured we would call the same guys to come out for an estimate. Silverback Moving did just that and we felt it was very thorough.
Four men and two trucks came out on the move day. They started by padding all doorways wood floors. After prepping, the home they prepared the furniture to then be handled. Quick and careful they were.
After we were moved into the new address, they made sure all was built properly and assembled correctly.
The overall move came in just a few hundred dollars over the initial bid. As my neighbor once did, I too will refer Silverback Moving.
