Skinny Wimp Moving Baton Rouge

This company moved me out of my house and took my things to storage. I was appalled that two of the guys on the crew asked me for a tip during and after loading my things. When I went to the storage unit after the move I noticed that my new refrigerator was not wrapped and it had several scratches which I pointed out to Dwayne when I had him to meet me there because I wanted him to see this himself. Some things looked like they were just thrown in the unit. When it was time to move my things from storage to my new home I had a different crew. I sat and watched them with the first load as I did not like the way the first crew had moved my items. As they pulled things out they pointed out that the first crew did not do things correctly and If I had seen the back of the unit I would have been very upset because things were just thrown around. I had a filing cabinet that was not wrapped and the front was completely dented, an antique dining table that was just restored after the flood that the bottom was not wrapped and and it was pulled apart, another small antique table that was not wrapped and scratched, missing screws for the frame to a bedroom set, an antique poster bed that was not wrapped and one of the posters broken off. A mattress topper that was not boxed and wrapped with tape with footprints all over it. None of my headboards to my beds were wrapped. To top it all off I had a 5 gal water jug that had change in it that was missing. Not sure what else is damaged or missing since I have not completely unpacked. I was only offered $0.60 per lb for damaged items, but I was never told by anyone that this was what their insurance covered. No way does this cover the cost of the damaged items and the repairs that need to be made. There was improper supervision when my items were being packed and policies and procedures were not explained at the time of the estimate. I was just given a brochure that explained how things would be wrapped and moved. I have not used moving companies in the past and was not familiar with this process and what questions to ask. I will say that the owner came to try and fix some of the things but he never did bring an Antique dressing mirror that he was storing because he first crew left it behind when moving me out. No I did not pay them because of these issues and when I texted him about my mirror he never responded. Customer service has gone to pot and if you continue doing business this way your company will fail. IF YOU DECIDE TO USE THIS COMPANY YOU NEED TO WATCH EVERYTHING THAT IS DONE AND YOU NEED TO BE THE SUPERVISOR. The only reason I gave 1 star is because I had to select one.

It's hard to put into words just how professional and kind Skinny Wimp Moving is, truly. I have had some horrible experiences with movers in the past. Which is why you can imagine how nervous I was to hire a moving company to help me load U-Haul UBoxes so I could move things from my mother's house after she passed away out to me in Nevada. I had originally hired U-Haul's recommended moving company, who politely backed out on me two days before my flight back to Louisiana to get everything moved. I panicked and turned to Yelp to help find some movers, because I knew the UBoxes were small and I was going to need some professionals to help with the heavy furniture and fitting as much as we possibly could into the UBoxes.

Enter Dwaine and Kristy from Skinny Wimp Moving to save the day. Dwaine responded to my request for a quote within minutes, and his sister Kristy talked me through the whole process. Even when I admitted there were a lot of moving parts (pardon the pun) and I didn't know fully how much stuff would need to be packed or how long it would take, Dwaine and Kristy were the ultimate professionals. Calm, collected, and happy to reassure me that they and their team would do everything possible to make this as smooth as it could be.

And boy, did they. Their guys showed up on time, immediately greeted me and my family and friends there to help with smiles and hand shakes, assessed the situation and got to work. They were so polite and kind, even offering their genuine condolences for my loss, which brought tears to my eyes. They treated everything as if it were their own items, wrapping up the furniture so carefully. I have never seen movers take such care with their work - I'm happy to say that everything made it out here to Nevada with such minor damage that it's hardly worth mentioning. It was nothing I wouldn't have expected (a few minor scrapes and scratches on a couple of items), and quite honestly, I expected much worse when considering everything traveled in essentially plywood boxes across the country.

Kristy stayed with us most of the time, even helping the guys out. Despite the name, the guys were anything but skinny wimps! They were excellent at their job, and would even run when they didn't have anything in their hands. They were quick and took great pride in their work. And did I mention how NICE they were?! Even though I asked a LOT of them, they were incredibly pleasant throughout the experience.

My friends and family were so impressed that they all asked me to please give them Skinny Wimp's contact information for the next time they need movers!

Oh, and the price?! More than fair, way less than I was expecting to pay, and exactly what I had been quoted. Could not have been easier!

I wish I could have these guys come out to Vegas and help me move the next time I need movers - THAT'S how great of an experience it was. I can't sing their praises enough. If you're in need of local movers in Baton Rouge, look no further. There is no one else more worthy of your time or money than Skinny Wimp.

This past week, Will and Josh helped me move down the road to my new apartment. They were very quick and respectful. They moved all of my stuff in 2 hours on the dot, with nothing broken, and no surprise fees at the end. They were a joy to have helping me, and I would wholeheartedly recommend this company to anyone looking to move in the Baton Rouge area for a reasonable price.

The owner came out and gave me a free estimate and the move was exactly the price he quoted. No hidden cost, the crew was professional and friendly. Great experience!!!!!
