Smartbox Moving and Storage

We stored all of our furniture in 2 SmartBox containers while redoing our floors. We were told it would be safe in the rain when we ordered them. They are for storing your stuff outdoors. Our furniture was severely damaged by light rain. Unusable. They told us there was nothing they could do - call your insurance. Our insurance told us a claim would raise our rates and we could only have one further event before they terminated our account. We put a review here and someone from the company said “call this number we will fix it.” We left messages for weeks and when we finally reached the owner he said “nothing we can do.” My spouse is a contractor and uses temp local storage nearly daily throughout the year. He has never had a leak. We will never use this company again, and will recommend against it for his clients. Nearly $10,000 loss for us.

Terrible! Smart Box leaked and ruined my furniture. Smartbox takes no responsibility and told me that since the box was at my home being loaded it is not their responsibility. The minimum requirement for a storage container to move is that it is dry. I never leave reviews but I think people need to know

I would personally stay away from using this company - read the reviews on various sites for reference. My experience moving from CA to MN was not a pleasant one with this company and I cannot recommend them.

However, my experience with this particular smart box location in MN was positive. Got a call the day of drop off, the drop off and picked up took place as was scheduled. All my belongings were safe and exactly how I had packed them. The staff was nice and prompt - I was satisfied with the MN staff and appreciated their professionalism.

Moved from CA to MN and was much cheaper than every other pod shipping service. I worked with Gwen and she was very helpful and kind. Answered all my questions expertly and even emailed with me at 9pm on a Friday when I needed to switch my delivery plan.

Customer service line sometimes had a long wait and there is no way to get directly in touch with the rep you worked with or the local shipping offices which I found a bit frustrating. There was also an issue with a last minute reschedule of when my box would be dropped off to pack. This is when it is frustrating to not have direct lines to local shipping offices, but the local dispatcher in NorCal gave me his personal # and helped find a rescheduled date that worked for me. A bit stressful but it all worked out.

Boxes are wood, but sturdy and nothing broke! If you’re moving cross country and looking to save some money on your move, this is a great option.
