Smooth Transitions of Mid Ohio

I lucked into Smooth Transitions. I’ve done moves myself, used full service Mayflower type movers, box truck movers, and worked on a moving crew. I’ve never experienced a moving company like Smooth Transitions.

While touring assisted living facilities with my parents, a young well dressed moving crew generously let us take the elevator ahead of them. I struck up a conversation and learned that they were moving items out for a family whom they had too recently moved in. I could tell they were affected by the family’s loss. I asked the front desk for their info and got a full throated recommendation.

Jessie came to the house, explained their extraordinary mission, and gathered info about the new place, our stuff, and priorities. Seniors don’t tolerate change well. A lifetime of gathering meaningful things and purposefully decorating your home with them means difficult choices need to be made to fit them in 1/3 the space. Jessie’s empathy was palpable. With the layout of the new place, she walked the house with my dad, took pics of each room, and loaded it all into her tablet. She sized up our priorities and determined (miraculously) that all of the stuff that my parents really wanted to take would fit. She gave us options for them to go beyond the move, organize & purge, sell what didn’t make the move, and prep the house to be sold. We just chose the moving option. She gave us a guaranteed price for the move in that first visit that included a dedicated move manager, occupational therapy support, packing, moving, unpacking, and (this is where they really thrive) staging the new place to be a small scale version of the existing home.

They understand how important it is for downsizing seniors to process this major late-life change in a healthy, positive manner. It's clear that concept drives everything they do.

A traditional box truck moving company quoted the move as well, I asked them to line up similar services. In their quote they subbed out a move manager without the extra services, and still came in $2k higher.

Over the next month, our Move Manager, Jasmine, and the Smooth Transitions staff made multiple trips to the house and the new facility. Their occupational therapist visited the house and the facility, offered suggestions to facilitate wheelchair access in the new place, and supervised those choices on move day. Jasmine presented the ideal layout of the new place with every item in place, and worked with my parents as they adjusted the layout numerous times throughout the month. The packing crew was young, clean, cheerful, and very careful; joined and supervised by Erica, a veteran moving assistant, and Molly, an additional thoughtful and overqualified Move Manager. A “pre-move” the day before move day enabled them get most of the big things in first so that they would have time on move day to stage and clean the new place. Move day was impressive. They had a crew of 8 so it took maybe two hours to load. Moving blankets wrapped everything that wasn’t boxed. Arriving at the new place was like “reveal day” on a home renovation show. When we opened the door it looked like my parent’s house. All of the years my parents spent making their house perfect (artwork, rugs, furniture, design/color co-ordination, photos, mementos, curios, etc.) translated perfectly into the new place. It immediately felt like home. All of the electronics were mounted, hooked up and working including tvs, sound systems, Alexa devices, alarm clocks, (clocks set!) etc. All of the clothes hanging and in drawers, toiletries, medicine cabinets, food in fridge and freezer, pantry, spices, EVERYTHING put in its place as it was in the old house. Both of my parents cried. Not because of the change, but because of the relief of not having to change.

Jessie followed up with a personal visit days after the move to make sure everything was still working for my parents where it was placed.

I can’t say enough positive things to recommend Smooth Transitions. Ten out of ten.

Everyone with the company did a great job. The two delivery workers were very professional and moved a 75' TV to new place for MIL. I highly recommend them!

Jessie, Jasmine, and team have been incredible to work with. Communication is timely, kind, and supportive. My mother is making the move to an assisted living facility from her condo and the situation is stressful and uncertain. However, when Jasmine came with her team to pack at my mom’s house, she was calm, kind, and careful with everything. When we were unpacking at her new apartment, I realized that Jasmine had, unbeknownst to me, taken everything from my mom’s fridge and was putting it in her new fridge. It immediately felt more like home for my mom to see grandkids’ art and school pictures when she walks in. That attention to detail plus how careful they were with fragile items has made the start of our experience simply incredible. Thank you Jasmine and Jessie! You’ve made a very stressful and uncertain time of life feel less chaotic and we appreciate you!

My moving team did a fantastic job. They were organized and efficient both in packing and unpacking my belongings. The time involved was much shorter than I could have anticipated. Everything arrived safe and sound and they left no debris or packing supplies behind. I would highly recommend them for small or large moves

Corey has been a tremendous help. He was able to remove a ton of stress from a situation and make my client feel comfortable and relaxed that Smooth Transitions would handle everything with his upcoming move from beginning to end.
