I would like to mention bad story gone bad, and my fault 100%. This is a moving company you want to seek when moving long or short distance. I had some terrific conversations with the owners employees and sales reps. Then, I received a phone call from a gentleman I did not know. Mind you, I always like to deal with one person once we talk. We had a great relationship.
When the gentleman called, I was a little upset when I was told I had to deal with him moving forward. That did not sit so well with me. So I let it be known. Not a very smart decision on my part by any means.
Well me, Mr. Big Mouth, almost blew not only the relationship with the people, company, and whom I found out was the owner, damn!
Anyhow, I had to call them back and sincerely apologize or as my wife would say, swallow my pride or as I would say I stuck my foot in my mouth when it should have kicked my butt.
Anyhow, I told the owner that i was sincerely sorry and apologetic and ai meant it. Lesson learned not to just stick with one person and expect that the business (his group of people) are as “one”.
listen want a great group of guys to move your items who take pride and care about your valuable pieces of furniture and so on?
You HIRE these men, a company that stands behind their name. Now I just have to be careful moving forward not to judge a company based on their job and having the knowledge that you have to deal with their up-line, in this case the owner. If i would have know that before hand, this would be entirely different.
The man was as kool as a cucumber, something and someone I can learn from. If he reads this, again my sincere apologies to him as well as his company! Wishing everyone the best!
Hire them! Don’t try the rest. Why? Because South East Van Lines are the best!
Beware of scam!! This business has very questionable business practices. They also seem to go by another name - A Class Moving (based in NJ). This company is a joke.
Used them to move from the East Coast to the West Coast. They provided an initial quote, which was a binding agreement, and then refused to tell us the additional cost for a couple extra boxes until everything was in the truck. Since we were flying out to the West Coast that day, we couldn’t do much but wait for them to load everything and then pay the extra deposit. They charged us extra for “packing” - which essentially meant putting things like lamps and suitcases into bigger boxes, which were already factored into the total estimate. They even forgot some items in our apartment that should have been very obvious to professional movers (a picture hanging on the wall that costs $200 to ship?? Some mops??). Lucky for us, they didn’t charge us for the two rolls of packing tape they used!
Jess from the office ignored our calls between the pickup and drop off (for a whole week!) and then the main mover, Joseph, started to take the lead when the drivers dropped off our stuff. He refused to negotiate with us, and it felt like he was EXTORTING us. We ended up taking two days off work because the original drop off date was completely ignored in favor of another move for someone else - they were supposed to come at 12pm on the Wednesday, ended up here at 9am on the Thursday. After spending two hours on the phone with him on drop off day, and after he THREATENED to send all of our stuff back to the East Coast, we had no other option but to pay them. Obviously, in cash (no Zelle, Venmo, or credit card payments accepted by this shady business!). TERRIBLE COMPANY WITH BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES. The movers who dropped our stuff off didn’t seem surprised - this seems to happen a lot with this company.
TOTAL EXTRA COST: $2,000!! My advice: go with another company that is less shady and provides you with the total cost upfront.
The move went smoothly and the two movers were polite, careful and excellent.
They came on time and handled unexpected situations with professionalism.
Highly recommend!
Also goes by A Class Moving Inc. BEWARE OF POTENTIAL SCAM, QUESTIONABLE AND SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES AFTER INITIAL SALE QUOTE.
The company initially gave us a binding estimate of $3346.44 to move my 2-bedroom apartment from Jersey City, New Jersey to Los Angeles, California. Upon arrival at my apartment, they then stated that I have more items than was quoted on the original statement. According to 49 CFR § 375.403.6.ii, the company should have provided a new price and handed me a new agreement PRIOR TO LOADING OUR ITEMS.
However, they were vague about the final price until all of our items were loaded onto the truck, only telling me the deposit amount due for the day of pickup and not the full amount for the whole move, until everything was in their possession. This left me with no choice but to agree to the additional $1866 they added to my bill. They told me to 'try to negotiate with the office,' which was then unavailable for the remainder of the service.
Upon delivery date, I called the owner Josef to attempt to negotiate this price hike, who then threatened to not deliver my items and ship them back to NJ unless I paid the remaining balance. I had no choice but to pay, which felt like extortion.
Horrible service, horrible company, horrible management, wish I could give 0 stars.
