Space Moving and Storage

Stress-inducing experience throughout a two-part move (first into storage, then into an apartment). TL;DR fine movers but don’t use them for storage.

They forgot I needed a storage unit until I mentioned it on moving day; they scrambled to find a unit on the phone while they moved things. They said I could access the storage unit with 24-hour notice, however when I asked Andrei to access the unit a day in advance, he said it wouldn’t be possible until a week later. We had to compromise on a date to access the unit, which involved waiting several days. They stored my items so ineffectively that I couldn’t retrieve half of them from the unit, including something I really needed.

During the moving day into the apartment, they were pleasant and cordial as things went smoothly from the start until they realized the job was taking longer than they expected and they got cranky. Andrei blamed me for telling them the apartment was on a different floor, despite having just sent them a video of me walking up to it from the street. They refused to move or breakdown a bookshelf that they said was too big to move and would take too long to break down (they quoted me an hour and an extra $200 for this - I went back the next day and broke it down in 5 minutes…). Mid-move, they said they misjudged how much time they had and that they had a deadline, stating they might not get the move done that day because they had to get to another job. This put me under a great deal of stress, so not wanting to prolong the move or make them late, I lent them a hand despite having a torn rotator cuff. They finished the move past the deadline yet did not seem in a rush to get to their next job, proving the stress-inducing deadline venting unnecessary. They ultimately charged me double my original quote.
