they are not located in Tenafly, NJ. the sales person on phone lied and said they had their own trucks. they do not. Came to my home in rented truck. Supervisor and 3 guys. did not load truck put all in driveway. said salesperson quoted wrong and shook me down for more money or would leave everything in driveway. then they demanded a tip. they came and it turned to night so was afraid as alone not to comply, my move sat in a warehouse in Elizabeth for weeks. way late to Florida and damaged. Lady that answers phone is rude and hangs up on you. Salesperson never takes your call again. Call Tenafly Police department and they said they get calls from all over the country on them. But no such business in Tenafly and fake picture on their site. Stay away from them. Supervisor said owner lives in Ridgefield NJ and stands by phone to get picture of extra check and deposits immediately over the phone. they go by different names also. Real scam artists. Should not have a license to move.
This company is honest, So why so much negative 1 stars? Because the broker nationwide are rip offs and sending them,
Stop and move are very honest people, They are here to work with you,
Book them directly and you will see they are amazing,
Dont use nationwide movers, They give a estimate of a low price so you will want to use them but when stop and move comes they nicely explain you that they dont know what they talking,
Use them direct and not with a broker
This is the worst moving company that I'd ever seen. What's worse, I contracted through a national carrier, but they sub-contracted to this company. We had agreement that they would show up on the Saturday before Labor Day (and threatened to charge me more if we weren't able to get in that day, forcing us to negotiate with the sellers)... then told us the day before that they were taking the weekend off, and coming Tuesday.
The driver REFUSED to allow me to inspect any of my possessions until I agreed to sign a form stating that nothing was broken (I took video of him forcing me), and wouldn't even open the truck until I did. Then, we found that they SHATTERED my daughter's bed, so that it couldn't be used (she stared school the next day), they broke our bed, and they destroyed a TV.
Didn't finish unpacking stuff, to the point where we ended up with at least 8 of their moving blankets. They left our couch in pieces (we both have bad backs, which is why we hired someone in the first place). Then they DEMANDED that I pay them an extra tip.
The quote given was less than half as much as the actual cost of the move. It was actually almost 3 times as much as quoted. The team that packed us was great. They had a 26 foot truck that was full at the end of the day. The delivery was awful!! They arrived at 10PM, with a 26 foot truck that was half full. They stacked boxes in the garage as asked but were rude about being asked to put the bed in the bedroom and setting it up. They ended up taking just 2 things into the house for us. A friend and I did the rest. They dropped boxes (which were extremely crushed) with no regard for content. There were 5 pieces of furniture that were broken, 11 dishes broken and multiple tool type items that never arrived, one of which was my dad's making it more irreplaceable. I called and asked for a warehouse search and never heard from them again. I initiated an insurance claim (we did not get additional insurance). After going through the initial claim interview (which took 4 calls to get a call back), paperwork was sent to complete. In looking at that, I found that you had to provide original purchase receipts for each item and that since I had packed the dishes, they were not covered. In addition, since I didn't list the missing items on the sheet at delivery, they were not covered (remember it was 11 PM by then and I was very upset. Needless to say, I cannot file the claim as I don't have original receipts for the pieces broken. So the end of the story is we are out about $1,300 worth of stuff that we will have to replace and will never use this company again. The service level, with the exception of the team that loaded our stuff was extremely sub par and their quality of work was less than that! It's heartbreaking to move a long distance and not get your belongings or have them ruined by people who don't care.
This company has robbed and stolen a truck load of furniture from two elderly ladies after charging them 4 times their estimated cost to move them to Tennessee. These poor ladies are staying in a house with no furniture, sleeping on air mattresses and wearing the same clothes now for over a week because these people will not answer their phones or respond to these sweet ladies. I only wish I lived closer I'd go see them myself with an attorney. So so sad...
