I had my belongings stored here for over a year, and I was continually sweeping out rat droppings. Despite being assured that pest control was in place, I was shocked to discover a large dead rat in my unit when I moved my items out this weekend. This is completely unacceptable and disgusting! ?
The facility is nice and I really liked the two employees in the front that I've met over the last few years. We changed units from a 10x5 to a 10x15 easily. Access is off the south feeder before the New Caney exit. It's a bit odd but works. The problem is that prices started low to get more customers after that location flooded time and time again with previous storage companies but Storage King did work on the property and fixed drainage issues. I understand that they had to do tons of promos and deals to gain customers again after the location had such a bad history but this last year they have hiked prices several times. I knew they would go up after our special was done but to jump nearly $100 in a year is ridiculous! from $69 to $161 is completely ridiculous. There were several price hikes throughout the year. I'm not even sure that is legal and I don't have the energy to go back over my original lease agreement. All I know is that while the price sounds decent for a climate controlled 10x15, it's outside of the more expensive area of Kingwood, which is why I chose it and dealt with driving further to it. At this point I could rent any unit within a few miles of me and be able to easily stop to access my belongings for the same price. Doesn't seem worth it to drive further, but we are so sick of having to move my life around. It's exhausting and time consuming so we will likely remain at this location. The newest ploy to increase pricing is that they are moving accounts to be on the first of the month which for whatever reason is costing renters a price hike. I'm just sick of it. I know companies go up after the initial deals of renting but this is simply ridiculous. Other than that, I do like how easy my unit is to access. I wish the man would finish the work on the house so that I can actually live in it. It's been 5 years. Hence, the need for such a large unit. My entire life is in it.
If you want clean units that are easy to access and well maintained, but okay with the several price hikes as I assume the company is trying to be more competitive with the others, then this is a great choice. I'm just personally fed up with the hikes. When does it end?
Best bang for your buck
A lot of their units flooded during the last storm.
Depending on where is your unit it may flood.
Also, they keep raising the rent 2, to 3 times per year instead of once per year.
I am not happy with their services at all.
Josh is AWESOME! He can definitely multitask! Helped me through check in process and training and phone calls.
