UPDATE** Since my review was posted and since I lodged my complaints, Storage King has now sent (Jan 26) an updated lease agreement which they state will go into effect on February 1st whether it is resigned or not. This is in violation of their current agreement which REQUIRES a 30 day written notice for any proposed changes therefore they are prohibited from forcing the implementation of a lease with only 6 days notice. They are trying to make several changes to attempt to restrict tenants and protect Storage King.**
Storage King is advertising their rate as a set rate however they intentionally set the rate at an attractive amount to lure customers into a lease agreement. They raise the rent regularly citing 'increased cost of doing business' yet the rate set for prospective customers remains the same or is lowered. Example, my 10*15 ground floor climate controlled unit was rented for $99/mo. Four months later I received a notice they were raising the rent to $144/mo. Six months later I received a notice they were raising to $164/mo. Their rep said their business practice is to raise rent every 8 months. This was never disclosed. The current rent price for the same unit on their website is listed for $74/mo. They are using deceptive trade practices to lure customers in and are discriminatory against their current renters in their rental rates. Only putting one star because zero was not an option. Save yourself the trouble and just rent with a company that is transparent and honest with their pricing. I've filed a complaint with the BBB and FTC.
