All of my stuff is damp and moldy. I had no mold at all when I put stuff in there. Looks like the ceiling is leaking and they are metal grates over everything. Pulling all my stuff now!!!
Go to my unit and my things have been torn apart all kinds of things missing or broken. My lock is just completely gone. Some homeless girl living inside the unit smoking and trashing everything. No security. And no reimbursement. This place is a joke wish I would of left everything in my yard would of been much safer
This place is going downhill fast. I just emptied my storage unit at Storage of America’s Range Road location after having it for about a year. When I first opened it, it was great- it suited my needs perfectly. However, in the past year there have been so many changes made that it really started to feel like they were hostile towards me. It felt like they no longer wanted my money or my business. In the beginning, there was a whole team of friendly people on site who took the time to show me the units, recommend which size would work best for me, and helped me understand the rental and access processes. I would see these same faces every time I came in, and they would always provide quick answers to my questions. But almost immediately, changes started taking place. First, you could no longer go to the office and make cash payments. I get that, it’s a huge hassle and safety concern to keep cash on hand. Next came the auto-pay. You suddenly HAD to be signed up for automatic charges on your credit card. Then, office hours started to change and dwindle. You were less and less likely to be able to catch the office open. Then they started shortening the hours you were able to access your storage unit. This was bothersome for me. Since it is my belongings and I am paying good money for the storage service, I guess I felt entitled to access to it. Finally, they removed the employees from the location completely, leaving only a self-service kiosk in their place.
The final straw came when I noticed one month that my bill had increased by $8 with no explanation. I went to the office and finally navigated the self-service kiosk enough to get someone to help me, and was told that I am now subject to a rate increase every 6-8 months. Apparently the only way they notify their renters of this increase is via paper snail mail. I of course never received this mail, if it was sent out. It seems odd that Storage of America had no problem reaching me electronically for bills, receipts, notices, basically everything else except this rent increase. This felt purposely deceptive to me. So since I could no longer afford the new rate, I closed my unit with them.
In summation, it was a good location and was there for me when I needed it, but the policy changes implemented during my time there, as well as the price increases, really came across as hostility towards me, and eventually I didn’t feel the need to continue paying for their services. My recommendation to people in the area is to check with Maximus self storage first. Their pricing seems much more reasonable, so if their locations work for you, you may be better off there.
Additionally, after reading some of the other reviews on here, I have corroborate with the reviewer who complained about a leaky roof and water in their unit. When I cleaned mine out, a number of my boxes were wet on the bottom, and dirty rain water had pooled in the walls of the unit. I will attach pictures of this. You’d think their ever-increasing prices could cover the cost of a patch on the roof or a better shelter over my unit than the wire mesh they have now.
this is an Awesome place they are very helpful and nice
