After reading the other reviews, it looks like I'm not alone in my disgust for this place. I started off years ago paying under $60/mth, and after it was first bought out by iStorage, rates kept going up. When SROA bought it, they raised my rent from $107 to $123, then up to $160 only three months later.
We finally got fed up and cleaned out our unit, most of which was so infested with bugs, mouse droppings, and a number of actual dead mice, that we had to just give up and throw away so much of our stuff, but they wouldn't allow us to use the dumpsters on site, so we had to rent a uHaul to take it all to the landfill ourselves. I called multiple times, and also stopped by the office (which was closed with two notes saying they were either at the bank or at the annex) to close our account, but couldn't get ahold of anyone, so I had to leave a voicemail to tell them we've moved out. I saw at least 5 other cars also cleaning out their units today (more than I've ever seen at any one time), so it looks like I'm not alone in getting out of there. My biggest regret is not moving out long ago when they started raising the rates so unreasonably to begin with.
I've rented from this location for the last 14+ years. The unit in 2011 was $55 at the special veteran rate. Since then, the rates have climbed steadily. But when SROA took over, the price sky rocketed. We received a letter saying in Jan 2025, the rental rate would go up to $160. They had just raised it to $120 in September. Today, I removed all my stored items, and so did others. It was busier than normal, likely due to their ridiculous rental prices. My unit was mouse and bug infested. Over half had to be taken to the dump as they do not allow you to use their dumpster. Poor customer service --nobody is ever in the office even during open hours. They also don't answer the phone. I tried the 1800 number to cancel and had to leave a message. I'll be emailing too to get it in writing as I don't trust their integrity. No item is worth storing it here to become gross and infested for $160+ a month.
STAY AWAY!!! Would give 0 stars if it were an option. Ever since this company came in and bought from 'I Storage' it has been a nightmare. Started with SROA charging me for insurance that I had already documented with 'I Storage' through my home owners. After numerous calls to the call center (the manager Emily never answers the phone or returns calls), I finally got the insurance charge taken care of. As retaliation, they raised my rate to what I would be paying with insurance the next month. Since then (about a year and a half timeframe) I have had 3 rate increases. Every time I call to inquire (only call center, again the manager, Emily, never answers or responds to inquiries) they say it is based off of 'market value'. When I ask why they charge so much less for new tenants and why they wouldn't want to keep recurring tenants, the lady said that was a good point but nothing she can do. Bottom line, this company is a money grab and could care less about taking care of their customers. The manager, Emily, never returns calls or follow up with requests. When I inquired about discussing issues with her boss, she refused to give a name or contact number. Do yourself a favor and find a reputable storage company.
***Response to the company (even though the response seems to be AI)....thank you for your reply. I have tried numerous times to call and speak to the Property Manager on site, she never answers the phone or calls back. When you call the property you get 8 rings then the call center every time. I would look into a more customer focused leadership team if this were my business.
