We had our household moved from Alabama to Tennessee and our team was great to work with. Nathan and Jordan both, were very professional, accommodating to our specific needs, and moved all of our possessions with ease. From our first contact at the office with Chelsea, through the entire move process, everything was a great experience. I would highly recommend this team and company to do all your moving needs. Thanks again for all your help, it was greatly appreciated.
This company has been a life-saver for us. They were dependable, on time and within budget. Their staff was extremely professional. Tone and Spoon were both so helpful, friendly, and courteous...not just to our staff but also to our business processes. They did not get in the way of business! And I think that's what we appreciated the most. They came, did their job with excellence, and made life easier for us. I would hire them again in a heartbeat!
This Side Up Moving accepted a residential move for our family site-unseen. They sent 2 guys for a 4 person job. The movers were polite, and we treated them kindly (bought breakfast, lunch, $100 tip). They moved mostly large items--furniture, refrigerator, and washer/dryer from a 3 bedroom home into another home. The new home (with recently completed renovations) is a 2-story with the kitchen on the second floor, not an unusual set up for the area of Huntsville where it sits. When discussing coverage, they promoted the care they take and attention to detail, leaving me to believe that extra coverage was unnecessary. GET FULL COVERAGE. The move OUT of our house was seamless, the furniture was wrapped, floor protection put down, and maximum care taken to avoid damage. THEN IT WENT DOWNHILL. The move into the new house did not have this level of care taken, and unfortunately our NEWLY RENOVATED home had significant damage. The most concerning was the 6+ foot gouge in the freshly painted wall going up the stairs, and the 4 foot gouge at the top of the stairs. The fridge is severely damaged on 3 sides, it looks like it fell off a truck and rolled down the street. The saddest damage includes gouges in a 40+ year old carved wood door and in the original parkay flooring. Both require specialists to repair. Other damage included a new bedroom chest with a leg cracked off, and other minor furniture damage. After communicating with TSUM for a few days after, there was radio silence. When we finally got them over to review the damage, they recognized the many issues. The walls were repaired by workmen who were finishing the master bath (who I found out later were asked by the movers to fix the walls before we saw??????). TSUM recognized they should bare responsibility for that, at least that's what they SAID. To build their case, TSUM stated that our moved was "unusual" and the stairs were tight--THERE WERE NO STAIR RAILS ON THE STAIRS DURING THE MOVE!!!! When they couldn't get the fridge into the kitchen, they left it at the top of the stairs. Note--I GOT IT IN WITH A LITTLE BIT OF SPATIAL CREATIVITY. After that meeting, radio silence again until I called them. TSUM president offered a "free move" expecting I would graciously accept. THE PROBLEM IS the cost of the move is less than the cost of the damage. When I made this clear, he said TSUM refused to pay for the wall damage (which we had already been charged for by contractors) and back-tracked on several statements made in our meeting. In fact, he told me he's NEVER SEEN A MOVE SO UNUSUAL, with 15 years in the business, this seems inaccurate if not impossible. He repeatedly told me that my repair numbers were wrong and I was "way off base", that he does this for a living therefore his word bore more weight than mine. It felt disrespectful and condescending. Admittedly, I did not take this well, and definitely lost my temper. Had he taken ownership of ALL damage, been respectful, honest and transparent, it would have been different. Indeed my numbers WERE correct, so to be treated like I had NO CLUE made me feel like I was being taken advantage of. This is customer service 101, make the customer feel heard, tell them what you CAN do, and be honest about why.The more I called him out, the more he dug in and back-tracked, which further disrupted communication. Finally, after I told him I would let others know about this TSUM experience, he told me that HE WOULD TELL ALL PERSONAL MUTUAL ACQUAINTANCES THAT I WAS A TERRIBLE PERSON TO DEAL WITH. This is just plain wrong and speaks to his lack of integrity and respect.
