Top Tier Van Lines, where should we begin?
My family scheduled a move July 2nd (Virginia), a good 3-4 weeks prior to the actual move. We thought it was ample time for coordination to happen on their end. July 2nd, evening comes around and we dial them as no one showed. They give us a call back the following day stating they have a truck headed our way (he doesn't show July 3rd). July 4th, we dial them and they finally guarantee a truck is coming! They finally pick up the house hold goods and on they went to their end point (Texas). Instead of going directly to Texas they STORE OUR GOODS in a storage facility in Georgia for the remainder of July.
August 3rd comes around and they finally deliver ALL our products MINUS a television. My family is very understanding and says it's not a problem, we'll go through the claims process if they can't find and resend it to us. *SUPRISE!* They find it in Georgia, they state they will send it to us via the postal system. Once a week I call to check on their progress on getting OUR television back.
September 20th the television finally arrives, *SUPRISE!* It was wrapped/packaged insufficiently thus damage is present. LED screen is busted and color is everywhere. The packaging consisted of two moving blankets taped up immensely with a layer of cardboard taped up as well. No wonder the TV is broken.
I stated all this with them and they just point me to the claims process. I try the claims process and this company is severely unhelpful and the people who are there to assist are the most rude individuals I've dealt business with. Just imagine if what I was moving was a furniture heirloom or something significant, these people do not care.
Used this service to move my daughter from CT to MI on July 31st. The salesperson was really good at communication and courtesy (Jon Davis), but once the pickup started, he seemed to have no influence on the dispatch/delivery side of things. There are only 2 parts - sales and dispatch, it seems. When it came time to get the delivery (we were told by Jon that we could have a 3 day delivery window), we were expecting the goods by August 7th at the latest. When that date rolled around, the dispatcher (Chris- maybe Chris Zhang) told us that there was a 30 day window and that we were told incorrect info, even though Jon stated that not to worry about the fine print window. It turns out that they had difficulty getting any other goods to go up to MI and couldn't spare fuel expenses unless they had sufficient goods to deliver. While I understand their motives, I don't really care as a customer, as I'm expecting the goods in a somewhat timely manner. We ended up getting the items on August 25th, after they explained that they were supposed to be shipped earlier on another truck and the stuff didn't get loaded in a mistake on their part. We were given a call when the driver was 1 hour away, rather than getting notice the day before with an approximate window. Fortunately, my daughter was home. I think the crucial concern here was the rudeness and disdain that Chris had for our complaint about not getting the items more promptly. At one point telling me 'don't tell me how to run my business' and threatening to hang up on me. I had to walk him down, so to speak, so that I didn't have to worry that he may hold our goods hostage longer. LATER EDIT: Others have suggested that the 5-star reviews might be fake, and on perusal, it is of note that most of the 5-star reviewers have no other reviews, whereas the 1-2-star reviewers seem to have more reviews overall and hence likely to be real people.
Do not use this company! They give you lowball estimates, jack up the price during the move when you have no chance to back out, then arrive late, handle furniture roughly, break furniture, and put you through a very time consuming claims process. Then they try to make you out to be a criminal for trying to get compensation. They actually accused me of insurance fraud and extortion, serious claims possibly slanderous. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and commerce commission of New Jersey so these people will be investigated and fined for consumer fraud. Keep checking back here because I will be updating every time I get another snarky reply from Chris!
I still have not been compensated for the multiple damages to my furniture caused by this company! The local manager tried to accuse me of insurance fraud when I explained what damages were found as I unpacked. I was told I had 6 months to make a claim but they stonewalled me and made me apply to a third party. The paperwork was ridiculous, asking for original sales receipts for the furniture items that were damaged. They never sent a representative to examine the damages and did not arrange for a repair estimate. So much pressure to give them cash up front. Salespeople that lied about their ability to do the job, who were subsequently not employed there when the move occurred. They were specifically asked if they were able to disassemble and reassemble a Sleep Number bed. I was assured that they were very capable. They tore the attachment buttons right out of the mattress! I have to pay for a technician from Sleep Number to come out and give an estimate. Movers tried to see the f I could get the repair done under the lifetime warranty! Talk about being dishonest! I’m over it! Going through my homeowners and let them fight with these scam artists!
Best moving company I have worked with! They are truly Top Tier! They kept me informed and helped with each step of the move process. Pick up and delivery crew was on time, very efficient and easy to work with. Thank you for a job well done!
Alex and his team were absolutely amazing! Highly recommended!
