5x5 Unit

4/2024 - $55 Rent + $15 Insurance/Month
1/2025 - $85 Rent + $15 Insurance/Month
-------------------------------------------------------------------
$30/Month Increase

I provided my own disc lock. Per my lease,
'LOCKS : Occupant shall provide, at Occupant’s own expense, a disc or cylinder lock for the space unless a permanent lock or
other facility required electronic lock is installed on the Space.'

December 2024, Nancy (Site Manager) decided to add a cylinder lock to my unit and charged me an additional $15 for the lock.

Nancy stated the following as the reason, 'There is a Disc lock on that unit, not a cylinder lock ... Please understand that a cylinder lock is required for security purpose.'

Trojan Storage broke their own contract by not allowing a disc lock and forcing a change to their own cylinder lock.

Scummy ownership with rate hikes. Stay away!

I belong to a neighborhood HOA who used this storage facility, prior to the change to Trojan Storage. Because the unit was rented by a past board member, we had trouble on multiple occasions gaining access to the unit. The staff member who is regularly there was not helpful at all. The manager of this location was also not helpful. Despite trying to put the unit in the HOAs name to avoid future issues, we ran into resistance, ultimately pushing us to vacate the unit. This unfortunately was a challenge as well. After the second attempt, we were successful.

The pricing was also inflated. When we first rented the unit, we paid approximately $40 per month for their smallest unit. When Trojan took over, we saw consistent rate hikes and were currently paying $110 per month for their smallest unit. Interestingly, the same unit is advertised on their website for $50 per month and the first month is half off, so only $25 per month. I know it is common for rate increases over time, but this seems a little much, especially since it was going to keep going up.

We will taking our business elsewhere.
