Review:

Today I had four movers, and their supervisor, Chandler, from the Milwaukee location, come to move a new Kohler soaking tub from the garage to the upstairs bathroom remodel project in my hundred-year-old house. The tub had been in the garage for months because our contractor suggested a tub that was too heavy for the plumbers to move and too large to make it all the way to its place in the bathroom. But Chandler found a way, and I am so grateful.

Our contractor asked other companies to consider the job, but they declined. Finally, with the encouragement of my chiropractor who has recommended “Two Men and a Truck” to many of his clients (and I even used them myself way back when they really were just two men and a truck), I decided to book the move myself.

Chandler and his team were impressive to watch, more exciting than football, to my mind. He gathered his team in a huddle and asked for suggestions. To each suggestion he replied: “Ok, lets do that,” and they did. If it didn’t go just right he stopped and asked again, implementing their suggestions each time. In between attempts he reminded them of how to safely lift, how to balance their own effort with the efforts of the rest of the team, and how to visualize the entire plan seamlessly, so each person knew what to do, and did not impede the continuous flow of the move from the bottom of the stairs to the top. They all seemed to feel heard, and they each told me how great it was for them to recognize how critical their ideas were to the success of the whole project.

Still, the tub almost didn’t make it into the bathroom. But, after nearly two hours of trying I still felt safe in asking them to try, just one more time, to get the tub into place; because I also felt heard. Chandler said to me: “I just can’t pass up a challenge,” and he moved ahead and got it done. I’d call that a miracle, because the contractor couldn’t get it done, even with her resources and sub-contractors!

Today, each of these five men are my hero, and they gave me the courage to think of my relationship with my contractor in a new and self-empowered way. In the fifth month of a six week bathroom remodel project, I, like Chandler, can get this project finished!

PRICE-GAUGING, SHADY ESTIMATES, AND EXTREMELY PREDATORY BEHAVIOR — GO WITH ANOTHER COMPANY!

I’ve used Two Men and a Truck before and had wonderful experiences. This time, however, convinced me never to go back.

My quote was based off of the information that I provided and I checked that they had all the info right. Come move day, the team that showed up seemed entirely clueless as to what my situation was. The first thing Adam told me was that the estimate was likely entirely too low. He told me that because they would need to take my stuff “all the way down the hall to the freight elevator (it’s a small apartment building, only about 10 units per floor, only 3 floors) and down and out through the garage (the freight elevator goes straight down to the garage and opens to a ramp that leads straight to the garage door, WHICH THEIR TRUCK WAS PARKED UP TO) it made the work much harder, would take longer, and would likely make the whole thing cost more”.

My move was very last minute, and I didn’t finish packing by the morning of, so I called the office to let them know that I would still be packing when the moving team arrived and may end up needing a little help. I did, and the movers updated the total to something I thought was fair, so I agreed and they made me pay the full fee up front, including the original quote plus the new fees for help with packing. I paid, and they continued to work.

Towards the end of them loading up the truck, I was informed that they would not be able to complete the move that day, and would need to bring everything out to the new house the next morning. When they arrived at the new house, Adam seemed utterly SHOCKED that the items were being moved into the basement of the home. He snidely asked “how many things?” And when I replied everything, because as stated on the estimate and forms I filled out, I’m moving into a basement apartment in the home, he THEN informed me that moving things into a basement was extremely difficult and that they would likely go over the time and effort I had prepaid for (which was already extended) and I would
Need to pay them even more to finish the move.

The team got about half way through moving my things into the basement and told me that my time was up. Adam then told me that I would need to pay another $1,300-$1,500 for them to finish, and that would also need to be paid up front. When I informed him that there was absolutely no way I’d be able to do that (I’d already had to borrow from two different sources to pay them twice already), he said that if I couldn’t pay, they’d have to just dump my belongings somewhere outside or
In the garage and I’d have to finish the move myself.

With no other choice, I told Adam that would have to be the case. Even though I am disabled and would have to find someone else to move the items for me while the owners of the house were gracious enough to let me borrow their garage. To top things off, when they were done loading the items (about 40 boxes) off the truck and 10 feet into the garage, Adam THEN informed me that I owed them another $1,000 just for doing that. I told him absolutely not happening, and informed their office that there would be absolutely no way I would be paying them that money.

I went with Two Men and a Truck because of positive past experiences, but NEVER AGAIN. Now, I will go out of my way to make sure no one I know ever gets scammed by them.

This is the 4th time in my life I've used Two Men and a Truck and a always superb service! The 2 gentlemen moving my aunt's stuff were VERY nice, informative, fast, and gentle with all items they moved. I will always recommend this company as I've never had any issues with them.

I moved my things into storage with Two Men and a Truck in September, and now I was moving to my condo. The drivers were right on time, but started complaining immediately about amount of things I had. They re-quoted my move per manager, Tim. I told the office about my belongings, but the movers said they did not quote enough time for them. They then started to complain about the job the previous movers did to move me into storage. One mover broke my antique library table 'because of the previous movers' work.' When we left the storage facility, they assured me they knew where they where going. They passed me close to my condo, and then I did not see them for another 20 minutes. They then complained about the one flight of stairs that I told the office about, but they claimed they did not know about. They kept telling me the stairs were killing them in a half joking way. In all reality, I paid twice to move once, which I know I was doing, but I did not expect so much complaining. They were nice enough guys, and I did tip them because of the stairs. I just wish they had not made an already stressful situation more stressful.

Was disappointed with the two man team. Gave them a 200.00 tip only to find out they damaged my coat rack and didn’t tell me, just took it away in their truck. They did work steadily, just not too careful with moving larger items through door ways. Also, didn’t put my bed back together properly.Office team was very helpful and concerned with my concerns. Am getting reimbursed for the coatrack , grateful for that.Overall a good company I believe, I think I just got two movers who didn’t care a whole lot. Again, great office staff!
