Two Men and a Truck Moving Customer Reviews

Review:

The overall experience was a complete dud. The two movers showed up in their truck within the time frame scheduled. The lead mover(Can't remember his name because he was very forgettable) began the experience by telling me he's new to professional moving. He's never done it as a job before. Then he proceeds to tell me while it's not necessary to tip they prefer cash so Uncle Sam can't get his piece. I brushed off the comment and let them begin their work. The only reason this move got 2 stars is because of the second mover, Josh. He did all of the work. He moved dressers, our king sized bed, frame, and various other things all by himself. Both packing the truck and unpacking. He gets 5 out of 5 stars. Where it took a turn was our washer and dryer. We have pedestals attached to them and they are located in our basement. I was told the movers would bring tools to disassemble anything that needed it and reassembly when we got to the next location. Not the case. The lead guy kept asking if we had tools to take the pedestals off. We had limited tools at this house because we were moving. They tried to get them up the stairs and got the dryer up but it was damaged. When it came time for the washer, the lead man wasn't sure about doing it he cited safety concerns and kept asking us if we had tools. We told him no. My wife took the door off of the frame at the top of the stairs to help and she ended up getting hurt because of this. They finally asked me if I could help. Seeing as I was paying over $1000 for the service I didn't see why I should but I did. I got downstairs and helped Josh with the bottom and the lead man was up top. He kept complaining, still, this wasn't safe. It became apparent at this point that he wasn't strong enough to guide the washer through the stairs and door threshold. The washer door ended up being damaged and the detergent holder front plate broke off because he dropped the washer halfway up. At that point we decided to leave the washer there and continue with the move. We made it to our new house and Josh unloaded almost the entire truck by himself. The lead guy ended up feeling light headed and dehydrated. Even though we provided water and Gatorade for the 4 hours they were working. I ended up helping Josh with a few things because he needed it. At the end of the move I tipped Josh what I would've gave him plus half of the other guy's tip. The lead guy came in and ran my car, even though it was already pre-authorized, and I gave him his tip. He seemed annoyed with how much I gave him but that's what he earned. The company ended up voiding the transaction and crediting my card since they finished earlier than expected. The only other silver lining to this. Josh gave me his number so he could back and help with the washer if needed. He's a great worker and a great person. I have nothing but respect for him.

My wife and I ended up bringing tools back over to the other house and moving the washer ourselves. We replaced the broken components and left it at that. For $1200 I would not use this service again. No tools, only one person doing work, and putting the customer at risk. One Man and a Truck needs to do better.

I was going to wash my hands of this experience but they emailed me and asked me to write a review. Well, here it is. Racine, WI, Two Men and a Truck. There you go.

I had good experience with this company. Courteous and friendly service. Received call from movers 5-10 minutes before arrival. Movers may not be Hercules but they were careful with my items and move fast. Pricing maybe a bit high. You do receive discount for returning customers.

The two man team were professional, efficient and friendly. We don't have a negative thing to say. We did not experience any damages with our move. Reasonable rates. We would highly recommend them.

This company should be called 'Two Men and a Truck with Half a Brain Between Them.'

Horrible experience. First off, the list of items they can move is extremely restrictive - they won't touch anything remotely fragile... basic things you would expect to be handled by a moving service like vases and lamps. We had to beg them to move our (lightweight) houseplants because they have some inane policy on transporting items with dirt. Seems like the list of things they can't transport is longer than what they actually can.

Service was lacking. Minimal attempts to protect flooring and carpeting. I even had to pay an extra $20 per roll of carpet protectors despite paying this company a decent chunk of change for a relatively simple local move. When asked if they could wear booties or do anything to protect the carpets and floors, the movers gave me attitude and their useless manager did nothing to alleviate the issue or reach out to me. The movers were generally unprofessional - they couldn't disassemble simple items, they complained/cussed the whole time, and some items (like our couch) ended up dirty because of improper handling and protection of the items.

After the move, the company sent us a survey which we rightfully gave low reviews. Despite calling us and asking us more about the service, the company did NOTHING to attempt to make it right. They should've just saved the phone call and kept their stupid traps shut if no action was going to be taken.

Avoid this company. They suck and the people they employ reflect this - both managers and movers.
