U-Haul Moving & Storage at Airport

I was totally amazed at the high level of service at the Moon Township U-Haul location. Kudos to all of workers there! They definitely have ALL other U-Haul and other truck rental facilities beat by a mile! THANK YOU FOR THE QUICK, EFFICIENT AND FRIENDLY SERVICE!!!!!

Finally found the best thing about Moon: moving away.

I reserved a truck a week ago and selected the option to pick up in moon and return to Chippewa (the closest location to where I moved). When I arrived I was unable to complete the pickup online so I went into the store and explained the issue. I was told that the only trucks available in the size I selected or larger were ‘in town’ and that I would have to either return the truck to moon or pay a significantly higher rate to return to Chippewa. Instead of the $40 base plus .99/mile it would have been $140, which includes 33 miles and then after the 33 miles it would be an additional .99/mile. It’s more than 33 miles to even drive straight from moon to Chippewa. I mentally did a rough calculation and realized it would be cheaper in the end to make the drive back to moon to return the truck, which also cost me an extra hour and a half of time that I didn’t have to spare. This was the first time I’ve had a bad experience with this U-Haul location (or any other).

Also, for clarification: this location seemingly suddenly switching to the ‘in town’ pick up here return here rule is absolutely not due to lack of trucks. They had plenty of every size visible in the lot. My husband couldn’t even find a parking spot when we had to go inside because the lot was so full of trucks.

The bait and switch tactic was appalling and in the future I will look into other options and encourage others to do the same. U-Haul isn’t the only place you can rent a moving truck anymore and them choosing to add on to an already stressful experience (everything that could go wrong happened to go wrong during this move) instead of honoring the reservation that I had made a week prior lost them future customers. I ended up paying double what I should have and had to rearrange my plans to drive the U-Haul back to moon. This is bad business and hopefully the company realizes before it’s too late that false advertising and screwing over your customers to double your profit is not a successful business model.
