U-Haul Moving & Storage at San Mateo and Montgomery

At first I had an excellent experience, they allowed quick and even free storage (for the first month). We stored a washer and dryer to hopefully give away to the community. We hired a guy to help us move the remaining dryer out of the facility. During the process of discussing the terms of the moving agreement we had an employee named Madeline lock the unit while we stood outside waiting for the mover to pull up the truck. She accused us of selling out of the unit and didn’t want to let my mover in. Nor me without my spouse - who was 10 feet behind her walking over having just borrowed an appliance dolly which was better than the dolly my mover brought.

Considering this was the last day of having the unit (after paying U-Haul around $500) for this whole ordeal of storing and transporting it the first time - she did everything she could to make it a poor experience. From accusing us of breaking policies, denying a prorate, and making us move our vehicle while not caring about another customer who stole 2 parking spots with a poor parking job. She should focus on great customer experiences and focused her efforts on the double parked guy. I’m glad we were able to donate the dryer to an elderly woman who needed it. And I’m disappointed by this experience. This is a warning to anyone who does consider this storage company.

They might be the cheapest - but you’ll pay in customer experience at this location. At least with this associate. We’ve had a pleasant experience up until this point. I only hope U-Haul figures out the priorities around customer experience and gets double parkers in front of the storage out - and doesn’t eavesdrop on a moving price negotiation from a hidden corner ?

Uhaul made made a stressful day easy by upgrading me plus making it easy if I had any questions or needed anything they were a phone call away. Thank you Uhaul

Cool laid back staff. They will be fair to you if you are fair to them

I would be careful with any uhaul make sure and take pictures for your own record also make sure and check your reciept that they don't double charge you. They tried charging me 900$ for a chip on the windshield that wasn't actually the truck I rented ! What a shady business! I found out that a few PRIVATELY OWNED uhauls seriously overcharged me. Dont make the same mistake ! Always make sure!!
