U-Haul Moving & Storage at Skyland Blvd

Not very happy with this location. I have received at least four notices from them regarding a past due balance I had for $41.00 because it was required for them to put a lock on my storage. When I got the storage, the store was just about closed, so naturally, I forgot. When you rent a truck or a storage from them, they ask for an additional contact: their name, number and address. They used my contact to send her a complete invoice VIA MAIL of my past due and ‘delinquency’. They never tried to contact me via phone, or leave a voicemail before they did this. Crazy thing is, I just opened up this storage on 1/26. It was supposed to be a free storage that you get for renting any of their trucks, so I guess this is their way of getting their money back. I’ve been threatened that my things would be up for auction or that they would hire an attorney if I didn’t pay the balance within 14 days. All this over $41. And it HAS been hard to pay it because I’ve really been struggling and this weather has made it very hard to move. I feel that the way they handled this is very unethical, and in a way, I feel violated. While I’m appreciative of what they have done to help, I don’t appreciate the way this was handled at all. I did call corporate and corporate confirmed that this particular location was the one who was communicating with me directly. Not trying to drag them, but just use caution when trying to rent a storage from them. Also, the units are very small, but very expensive, and they are not outside. Just don’t do it and if you do, be cautious.
