This specific U-haul storage facility was good at first up until recently when the general floor manager, Inez, decided to completely disregard my situation, and continue to talk over me and ignore what I kept trying to tell her.
Long story short, my father had past away recently and I went to go see what was inside his unit. I had to call a locksmith out to open the lock. The locksmith ripped me off and I had to pay $300, even though he couldn't get the lock off and I wound up getting it off for him. Come to find out after the fact from Inez, the same person who told me to call a locksmith, that the storage can provide that service for you!?..
Inez, the general floor manager kept repeatedly asking me who the next of kin was, and like a parrot, I had to keep repeating myself, I am, you are talking to him, etc... But for whatever reason, she didn't believe that what I was saying was true. I show up a week or so later with my father's death certificate in hand and after about 5 mins of looking on the paper that clearly has my name on it, she says that she can't find my name. I get the document and right when I was about to point my name out, all of a sudden Inez says, oh there it is. After she found my name, she tells me I need to get an affidavit signed. I come back about a week later with a signed affidavit and I am still being denied access to my father's unit. Upon me leaving on that last visit, one of Inez's coworkers that was helping me and who was just as rude and inconsiderate as Inez, walked outside to converse w/ one of her fellow colleagues and I can hear hear talking about me and my situation and laughing to top everything off..
I have never lost a family member before, so this is my first time having to deal with something like this..
This whole transition of ownership of the unit should not have been so difficult and thanks to Inez and the help of her usless colleagues, it has been everything BUT a smooth transition. Thank you U-haul for causing not only me, but my siblings more mental destress in our time of grievance and for hiring individuals who have no sense of customer service or compassion for what another individual is going through. You people really are the worst!
I didn’t even want to give one star, but it made me, we took the U-Haul for 5 1/2 hours, but since we were a little later than we thought they want to get charged happy and charge an extra day of service. most unreasonable idiots you could find.
