*TO ALL FUTURE CUSTOMERS: PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO RENT A TRUCK HERE*
To give you some backstory- I’m a new business owner and this was my first year starting as a small business. I unfortunately do not own a truck and I made the horrible and deeply regrettable mistake of renting one with these guys. These people are worse than the mafia, they will give you their word and then they’ll charge you double behind your back. This has to be one of the shiestiest, crooked, deceitful, corrupt, distorted, and dishonest businesses I’ve ever dealt with. Nothing made sense from their billing statements to their explanations of why I paid so much money. I’ll paint the picture for you: I rented the truck out on the 13th of the current month until the 20th of that month (1 week) which I had paid about $500 with insurance included. This was taken out of my account and I got a receipt of it. On the 20th (the day I came back to return the rental after a week) I decided it’d be a better idea to rent it out for a month because I assumed I’d be saving money instead of renting it again each week. So, about 3 weeks go by and I get a call that it was supposed to be returned that day (the 6th of the following month). This confused me but I was in dire need of the truck for jobs still so I requested that it’d be extended until the 8th (2 more days). The guy I spoke to over the phone said it’d be no problem and I’d only incur the fee of $75 additionally. Of course I agreed, sounds reasonable. I thought all was fine and dandy (IT WAS IN FACT THE OPPOSITE), and got royally screwed, bamboozled, hoodywinked, and taken for a sucker. When I returned the truck on the 8th I looked at this receipt and I was horrified because somehow from paying $500 for the first week already, the bill came out to $2100 for 3 weeks and 2 days. Even the guy at the front desk couldn’t make sense of it. Multiple amounts were taken out of my account, as well as multiple billing statements. This was clearly not billed all together. What’s even worse is the additional 2 days for the extension cost what it did for a week (not $75 like I was told). I decided to call them because after reviewing the separate billing statements nothing was making sense to me. Firstly, they charged me $500 for the first week separately (with its own bill). Secondly, in the next bill they factored in that first week (that I had already paid for) to call it “4 weeks” when in reality it’d have been 3 weeks. Also, the due date for that on this bill was on the 4th when they had previously called saying it was the 6th for some reason. Then a third bill for the extra 2 days added, which was another $400. When I had called to try and get some type of reasonable explanation, logic went completely out the window. I was told that this was billed all together, which it clearly wasn’t. To make it worse he said it would have been cheaper to rent it again for a week than to extend it for 2 days. WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME THIS AND WHY WAS I TOLD IT WOULD ONLY BE $75??? They offered me no consolidation or compensation. The bills I received say one thing and the multiple charges on my account another. I plan on disputing these charges on my account and never doing business with the U-Haul mob again. I paid the piper and got through these jobs, but at what cost??? My sanity and my hard earned money is gone. Do yourself a favor and never come here. You’ll regret it.
You will rejoice at the minimum of paperwork.
